Comparativelv little has been said of the history of the ritual, for it was felt that that subject could not, with any degree of fullness, be properly treated in a work of this kind - if, indeed, it were wise to treat it at all in a printed book - and mere details of legislation have been passed by with, at best, but brief mention.
