Many of the major fundamentalist institutions are falsely teaching their students that there is very little difference between the N.T. Greek of the new versions and that of the King James Bible. It is hoped that thousands of translators, teachers, students, pastors, and every Bible-believing Christian generally will make good use of this book, using it to analyze translations in any language of the world, and then to construct accurate New Testament translations based on the proper Greek words. - Back cover.

He answers many of the difficult questions the so-called "experts" throw against the King James. The King James Version has shaped the church, our worship, and our mother tongue for over 400 years. But what should we do with it today? The KJV beautifully rendered the Scriptures into the language of turn-of-the-seventeenth-century England. Even today the King James is the most widely read Bible in the United States. The rich cadence of its Elizabethan English is recognized even by non-Christians. But English has changed a great deal over the last 400 years—and in subtle ways that very few modern readers will recognize. In Authorized Mark L. Ward, Jr. shows what exclusive readers of the KJV are missing as they read God's word.#In their introduction to the King James Bible, the translators tell us that Christians must "heare CHRIST speaking unto them in their mother tongue." In Authorized Mark Ward builds a case for the KJV translators' view that English Bible translations should be readable by what they called "the very vulgar"—and what we would call "the man on the street."

This volume highlights points of agreement and disagreement between two leading intellectuals on the subject of the textual reliability of the New Testament: Bart Ehrman, James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Daniel Wallace, Professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and Executive Director of the Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts. This book provides interested readers a fair and balanced case for both sides and allows them to decide for themselves: What does it mean for a text to be textually reliable? How reliable is the New Testament? How reliable is reliable enough?

An essential introduction for scholars and students of New Testament Greek With the publication of the widely used 28th edition of Nestle-Aland’s Novum Testamentum Graece and the 5th edition of the United Bible Society Greek New Testament, a computer-assisted method known as the Coherence-Based Genealogical Method (CBGM) was used for the first time to determine the most valuable witnesses and establish the initial text. This book offers the first full-length, student-friendly introduction to this important new method. After setting out the method’s history, separate chapters clarify its key concepts, including genealogical coherence, textual flow diagrams, and the global stemma. Examples from across the New Testament are used to show how the method works in practice. The result is an essential introduction that will be of interest to students, translators, commentators, and anyone else who studies the Greek New Testament. Features A clear explanation of how and why the text of the Greek New Testament is changing Step-by-step guidance on how to use the CBGM in textual criticism Diagrams, illustrations, and glossary of key terms

The Reason For This Book. Prior to the 1980's when Hodges and Farstad published their edition of their so-called Greek "Majority" Text, this was the name which had been given to the Greek Textus Receptus which underlies the King James Bible. Dr. Moorman has given needed clarification to this important matter. The Goal of This Book. One of the goals of this volume is to present the Biblical arguments for God's promise of verbal, plenary, preservation of His Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek Words and His fulfillment of that promise. In addition, two "Majority" Texts are examined; Von Soden's defective work is disclosed; over 90 pages of manuscript digest is listed, and 1 John 5:7-8 is established. The Name of This Book. The title of the book is "When the KJV Departs From the "Majority" Text." The c. 414 manuscripts used for proof are not a "majority" of the over 5,555 manuscripts in existence today. Of the 1,800 MT differences with the TR, about 1/3rd depart from the wording of the KJV. The Usefulness of This Book. This book should prove useful to one who seeks to find the specific differences between the MT and the TR as well as to find the manuscript authority for the Words underlying the King James Bible. The five pages of "Index of Words and Phrases" helps greatly.
