100 Ultimate Smooth Jazz Riffs for Alto Sax and Eb instruments Catalog No. ADG227 Author Andrew D. Gordon Publisher A.D.G. Productions With the continued worldwide success of the book series Ultra Smooth Jazz Grooves that I co-authored with sax player Frank Villafranca based on compositions that we wrote for our band The Super Groovers, I have now authored this series of Smooth Jazz books for the following instruments: Piano/Keyboards, Guitar/Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Tenor and Alto Saxes, Trumpet and Trombone. Smooth Jazz covers a wide variety of different styles and I have combined elements of Jazz, Rock, Pop, Blues, Latin, Gospel, Funk and R&B, Classical, Folk, New Age styles into the examples in the book. Smooth Jazz” is a genre of music that is predominately instrumental, usually very melodic in nature and in most cases features some jazz improvisation. and is usually performed at a medium tempo and tends to feature piano /keyboards, saxophone, trumpet, and guitar as the most common lead instruments playing the melody. Most Smooth Jazz is well produced and has memorable melodies over a backdrop of multiple tracks of rhythm instruments, keyboards, guitar, strings, synth pads, drums and percussion. Each riff has been recorded with the solo melodic instrument along with a rhythm backing track of guitar, keyboards/synths, bass, drums/percussion followed by just the backing tracks for you to practice with. Also included are backing tracks playing the chord progression through 10 times giving you extended time to practice your improvisational skills using the riffs in the book and developing them into your own style.

Due to the high demand of two of Andrew D. Gordon's blues piano/keyboard books, 100 Ultimate Blues Riffs and the 12 Bar Blues Bible, he has adapted examples from the two books along with new examples into a blues organ book and Ultimate Blues Organ Riffs is the result. There is an increased interest in playing the organ these days as many keyboard players are adding organ modules, organs, software etc., to their array of instruments. This book consists of 96 riffs, in many different keys, and covers a wide range of blues organ styles including Blues, Funk, Gospel, Jazz & Rock. The music notation consists of the right and left hand parts as well as a bass line. Although primarily written and recorded with the organ in mind, pianists and keyboard players will also find the material in this book very useful. All the 96 examples have been recorded twice, the first time with the organ right and left hand parts, guitar rhythm, bass and drums. The second time, has the rhythm guitar part, bass and drums so that the keyboard player can practice along with the rhythm tracks.

Play in the styles of Ray Charles, Dr. John, Billy Preston, Leon Russell, and Andre Crouch and see how Blues, Jazz and other contemporary styles are associated with the Gospel sound. Customer Comment About This Book: Gospel Riffs God Would Love To Hear I love Gospel music, and so far with Andrew Gordon's books I haven't been disappointed. This book was no exception. And even though I thought Andrew couldn't have gotten any better in his books he did. The book finishes with two songs (When The Saints Go Marching In and Amazing Grace) that provide of understanding of how to create an arrangement from just chords and a melody (using techniques from the books riffs). Wow, this music instruction at its best for a very, very reasonable price. Don't waste your money on anything else. I bought this book a few months ago, and it really does keep you learning. I always want to learn the next song. I would definately recommend this book to anyone who has played 5 years or more. It might be a while until you can play some of the songs up to speed, but it is well worth the work."

Many woodwind players come from a classical background which may not have taught you how to play by ear. While this can provide an excellent grounding in music, it doesn't teach you how to improvise, and often it's difficult for classically trained musicians to learn Jazz soloing. Beginner Jazz Soloing For Saxophone & Clarinet is the perfect guide to bridge the gap. Devised by Buster Birch (visiting jazz professor at Trinity Conservatoire), this book teaches a creative method for improvisation that's been road-tested at hundreds of workshops.
