This guide is meant to serve as a help identifying many of the wildflowers and other herbaceous species common to the rangelands, forests, and farmlands of Utah. It is not an exhaustive guide to the plants contained herein, nor is it a comprehensive summary of all the wildflowers and herbaceous species of Utah.
Uinta Flora, first published by the USDA Forest Service in 1986 and updated in 2014 and 2016, is a field guide to approx. 1700 species of plants found in the Uinta Basin and Uinta Mountains of northeastern Utah, western Colorado, and southwest Wyoming. The guide provides keys, descriptions, and habitat information for each species.

A comprehensive guide that includes a vast range of species and plant communities and employs thorough, original keys. Based primarily on vegetative characteristics, the keys don't require that flowers or other reproductive features be present, like many plant guides. And this guide's attention to woody plants as a whole allows one to identify a much greater variety of plants. That especially suits an arid region such as Utah with less diverse native trees.
