"If ever a couple was ‘meant to be,’ it’s Tess and Gus. This is such a witty, poignant, and uplifting story of two lives crisscrossing over the years, with near miss after near miss. . . . I couldn’t put it down." — Sophie Kinsella For fans of One Day in December, The Flatshare, and This Time Next Year, a wryly romantic debut novel that asks, what if you just walked by the love of your life, but didn’t even know it? "TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE." Tess can’t get the motto from her mother’s kitchen knickknack out of her head, even though she’s in Florence on an idyllic vacation before starting university in London. Gus is also visiting Florence, on a holiday with his parents seven months after tragedy shattered their lives. Headed to medical school in London, he’s trying to be a dutiful son but longs to escape and discover who he really is. A chance meeting brings these eighteen-year-olds together for a brief moment—the first of many times their paths will crisscross as time passes and their lives diverge from those they’d envisioned. Over the course of the next sixteen years, Tess and Gus will face very different challenges and choices. Separated by distance and circumstance, the possibility of these two connecting once more seems slight. But while fate can separate two people, it can also bring them back together again. . . .

Have you ever wondered what Joseph's brothers said to him when they decided to sell him as a slave, what Abraham said when God asked him to sacrifice Isaac, or what happened to the little captive maid when Naaman came back healed of leprosy? The Bible in Action is a collection of Bible stories, using the dialogue in the Bible, and filling in the gaps with what was not recorded or not presented as dialogue. If you are a Sunday School teacher, youth worker, a parent or grandparent looking for material for devotions or family fun; or adults just wanting the Bible to be more exciting, this is a book for you. It is in reader's theater format, and was originally written for children's church for 7 to 10 year olds to present and discuss. A drama was also performed by two teachers for four-year-old Sunday School, and reader's theater has successfully been used for middle school Sunday School. There are 59 dramas, which provide literature for once a week for over a year, and the stories are arranged in historical order. The King James Version was used as closely as possible, with modernizing outdated words. Madge has always loved the Bible and thinks the stories are fascinating. She became a Christian at ten, has taught Sunday School, home Bible studies, or children's church for about 30 years, and has read the Bible over 50 times. When she was in middle school she wrote two plays. In high school she worked for two years on the high school newspaper, and went on to major in journalism in college. She is newly married to Ray Spencer, and they reside in San Antonio, Texas. She has three children, Jeanie, Jeff and Jimmy; and six grandchildren.
Emily Kwamboka Mogeni is a 33 year old Kenyan American who lives in Eagan Minnesota with her husband Erick and their two young sons Damien and Dylan. She developed her writing interest as early as 5 years old. She went to Kenya’s top girls’ school, The Kenya High School where she excelled in English and Literature. She later moved to the United States to study Computer Science at the State University of New York. She is currently a student at the Minnesota School of Business. Her father, who was her great inspiration died in March 2003 due to throat cancer. Three months later her mother died. This is what gave her the inspiration to write this book and share the story of what many young orphans in Kenya are undergoing. Her book is an insight to the rest of the world about what is happening deep down in the roots of an African village. There are millions of children who will never live to enjoy what the world has to offer due to their HIV status. These children most of whom are very bright and smart suffer quietly while living with their aging grandparents in the poverty stricken villages. Most of them lost their parents soon after birth or before their fifth birthday. This book is a great inspiration to many of these children. All they need is a roof on top of their heads, a warm meal and proper medical care.
