Seamus Hinkle has encountered a good deal of mystery and a lot of secrets since he first started at Kilter Academy. The longer he's there, the more unanswered questions he seems to have. At last it seems like he just might get some answers as he and his troublemaker friends prepare for a huge event: a Kilter Academy retreat in the Adirondack mountains with all the students and their parents.
The greatest fear of the Christian parent is that his or her children are not walking in the truth and, consequently, will unwillingly self-inflict much pain and sorrow on themselves becoming trapped by the pitfalls of life. Your journey in life will be determined by the choices in your youth. Basing those choices on truth, rather than on perception, determines the quality of that journey, as well as choosing the final destination. There is no reset button in life. Avoiding the pitfalls of life takes wisdom-wisdom not of this world. The key to avoiding, and worse yet, causing a disaster in your life is to develop a keen eye for any signs of trouble. Watch Your Step! Barefoot in a Broken-Glass World helps the reader identify and avoid the pitfalls as identified by Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived. He had profound insights into the fallen nature of man. Solomon's intent for the book of Proverbs was teaching young people the tactical skill of biblical wisdom. The purpose for Proverbs is to equip us with divine wisdom. Possessing this wisdom will bring the most success in this life, and minimize the negative effects of living in a fallen world. Watch your step-you never know from one moment to the next what challenges in your life await you. After all, we are all born barefoot in a broken-glass world.
Pull up your beach chair, kick off your flip-flops and join Nichole Bocelli as she shares with you her unexpected deliverance from suburban psychosis into sweet Buffettesque dream. (After all, it's not every day a small town midwestern girl falls in love with a rock star.)Private jets, yachts, partying with girlfriends in the tropics, lunching with Hollywood elite...yes, it's as big as it seems. But maybe it seems too good to be true? (Let us not forget the adulterous affairs, unwanted pregnancies, police investigation, missing bodyguard and fugitive fighter pilot.) Journey with Nichole as she battles, not only her "average girl" insecurities, but also the wiles of one naval aviator that leave her ultimately, battling for her life. ...And in the end it will be up to you to decide if maybe, just maybe, her boring life in the suburbs wasn't such a bad thing after all.
A disabled boy from Israel is a guest in Florida, hoping to be treated a top rehabilitation clinic; meanwhile, a terrorist plot is hatched to sabotage his host's factory, which is scheduled for automation.
As a child, Sarah Robb O’Hagan dreamed she could be a champion. Her early efforts failed to reveal a natural superstar, but she refused to settle for average. Through dramatic successes and epic fails, she studied how extraordinary people in sports, entertainment and business set and achieve extremely personal goals. Sarah became an executive at Virgin Atlantic and Nike, and despite being fired twice in her twenties, she went on to become the global president of Gatorade and of Equinox—as well as a wife, mother, and endurance athlete. In every challenging situation, personal or professional, individuals face the pressure to play it safe and conform to the accepted norms. But doing so comes with heavy costs: passions stifled, talents ignored, and opportunities squelched. The bolder choice is to embrace what Sarah calls Extreme You: to confidently bring all that is distinctive and relevant about yourself to everything you do. Inspiring, surprising, and practical, Extreme You is her training program for becoming the best version of yourself.
"The poems in this selection are accompanied by pictures from photographs taken by the author which invite the reader to work out his or her own interpretation of them. Like the poems, some are easy to read, others more difficult, but they complement the text in various ways. The poems are different from my previous collection, Inventing Parents, published in 2003., which contained several sequences, and in which the predominant note was elegiac. They fall into three groups: one takes for topics travel, history and the world today; the second group grows out of personal issues, including encounters with love, illness and death; and the third group consists of poems that offer a more humorous or sardonic commentary on aspects of present-day life"

The same design thinking responsible for amazing technology, products, and spaces can be used to design and build your career and your life, a life of fulfillment and joy, constantly creative and productive, one that always holds the possibility of surprise.
I t’s a humbling thing to write about persons who have greatly impacted your life. I am reminded that we cannot live alone without the influence of an individual (s) or a higher deity to affect our lives. There has always been someone who came before us and influenced us in a way that greatly mattered to us. They came with equal talents and gifts (of the Spirit) that guided us along the way. We must take heart and humbly seek guidance of our Creator. He will send a mentor or hero to help us whenever we are experiencing frustration or exhaustion. Our Savior God calls us to endure the pain and hurts as well as the successes. He will keep his promise to work in and through us. We must follow Him with exacting diligence to uphold our responsibility to be generous with a faithfulness, justice and a joyful heart.
