The country of origin is defined as the country where the commodities were grown or processed. Where the country of origin is not known, the imports are credited to the country of shipment. Imports similar to agricultural commodities produced commercially in the United States and other that are interchangeable in use to any significant extent with such u.s. Commodities are supple mentar or partly competitive. All other commodities are com lamentar or noncompetitive. Further explanatory material on foreign trade statistics and compilation procedures of the Burea of the Census is contained in the publications of that agency.
