Bridge asset management has been embraced by other Department of Transportation. In the late year 1990, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) formed two sections to perform bridge management within its bridge division. There are field operations and project development. A Bridge Management System typically estimates two types of costs. There are improvement and agency. Improvement costs are estimated to determine the cost of a maintenance action to improve the condition of an element. The expected user cost savings for safety and serviceability improvements should also be estimated. In Malaysia, the asset management for bridge is not applied yet to all bridges in Malaysia. It was just focus on the big bridge. An effective asset management strategy centers on many key aspects there are treatment strategies, deterioration modeling, cost modeling, future cost and life cycle cost analysis, bridge inspection, budget planning and prioritization, use of Geographic Information System (GIS), training, emergency management planning, and rehabilitation and retrofitting. -Author.
