Her growing reputation led to further opportunities – such as teaching in the USA and making films for the BBC about child development. Joan worked with Piaget until he retired, taking on responsibility for part of a large project designed to improve the teaching of mathematics in the UK, and this period is also covered in To Go Making Paths. Later she returned to the UK to teach maths in a UK university. Soon after, she met her future husband and from there a whole new life opened up.
