This is the story of Eighth Air Force bombing missions leaving England to blast targets in Hitler's Third Reich in 1944–45. Each clear day, the skies filled with hundreds of B17 Flying Fortress bombers and their escorts crossing the English Channel toward enemy targets protected by anti-aircraft batteries and German fighters waiting to attack the heavy bombers. The skies over the target were filled with black flak appearing to be so thick you could walk on it! The exploding shells filled the space with flying chunks of iron as bombers started their bomb run on the target. We often could hear the flak pelting our plance like a "buckshot" on a tin roof. This flak would often strike a vital part of the plane or wound a member of the crew! Our waist gunner was wounded on our tenth mission! Some missions we could count hundreds of holes in our plane after we landed safely in England! Bombers receiving a direct hit were blown out of the sky and another ten man aircrew was lost. Planes severely damaged had to drop out of formation and face enemy fighters alone unless some of our P-51 or P-47 escort fighters protected them. Bombers disabled or on fire had no choice but to order the crews to bail out. Airmen who survived the parachute jump were captured and placed into German prisoner of war camps (POW). They were classified as "missing in action". Forty-eight photos, some sixty years old are included in this 350 page book to illustrate the story of the author's childhood in the Great Depression through the great air war of World War II. A description of each mission from a sixty year old diary is included. I think you will enjoy the story of a teenage Radio-Gunner's experiences in the Mighty Eighth Air Force.

Through These Eyes, is a collection of experiences and challenges in the form of stories during my nursing career that left an indelible mark upon my mind. Some of these experiences help to mold the way I saw my job and cared for my patients. Sometimes in executing one’s job as a nurse was like weathering a storm. The medical situation could be very critical, the storm brutal, survival depended on your execution of the client’s plan of care to save him/her and to save yourself. On days like that you really had to even breathe thoughtfully. Every day was a challenge to me. I prayed for guidance from a God who doesn’t exist for so many but for me the, “I am” was my lifeline. He was here before knowledge; therefore there was never a situation I didn’t trust him to help me assess and execute. I fought for every life that was put in my care as though my very existence depended on it. And you know what it did! As a part of the Medical Profession Registered Nurses have adopted an oath to serve without harm.

Motherhood found her at an early age and that birth gave her a re-birth with life and inspiration to write Through These Eyes, with hopes to help guide her son and introduce herself to him not only as his mother but as an everyday soul and in this first step begin to define a new meaning of what living is. This book of chronicles shows the humans way of traveling through, pain, tears, confusion, wondering, succeeding, smiling and simply...living. Through Children's Eyes By: Sarah Brittany Sandbach Ever wondered what it would be like to see the world through the eyes of children? Through Children’s Eyes was inspired by Sarah Brittany Sandbach’s first-grade students. Through countless unforgettable moments in the classroom, Ms. Sandbach developed an idea that might share these same thoughts with the world. Whether it is hopping on furniture because the floor is lava or building forts to read under, children have the right idea when it comes to viewing the world. The life we live is full of inspiring people and blessings; though it can sometimes be over-shadowed by situations that block that perspective.

Remember this as you read Life Through These Eyes, Vol II: There is always a story within a story. I am often asked, Are your characters real? Oh yes, they are all realvery real to me. I loved a few, disliked many, and spent years trying to forget some. The book covers six decades of my lifestories of love, exceptional friendships, pets raising humans, marriage at its best and worst, really mean people, holiday memories, men being men, and much more. At age fifty-eight, I discovered I had a message I wanted to share: A message that contained memories from childhood to retirement; wonderful, and sometimes painful, life lessons; praise and criticism regarding my community; and events and people that made me angry and disillusioned. I found an outlet for many hurtful experiences. Also, I found a way to channel my political feelings. Writing became my therapist.

Jamie is a little girl who lives with her mom and dad. She loves spending time with them and with her grandparents and accepts them for who they are, even if her dad does snore and her grandpa plays the piano really badly. Because that is the way she was brought up. Despite having her own worries about being accepted, Jamie’s parents always told her that she would fit in and make friends because she is just as good as other children. So when she discovers that her parents and grandparents are looking at her new friends in an odd way and seem to act differently when they are around, just because Tim’s eyes aren’t the same shape or Sue’s skin is a different color, she quickly decides to take action. Jamie is on a mission to show her family that they are mistaken and that none of the differences between her and her friends are important. See Everyone Clearly is a colorful and fun picture book for children aged 4 to 10, that promotes friendship and diversity and educates children and adults alike, about accepting others as they are and enjoying their company despite obvious differences. Perfect for a bedtime read, story time in a classroom or when you want to help your child to understand the concept that we are all different in some way.
