That is the evil thing at the very center of this trouble." This sordid and enormous trade in the engines of destruction by one of the most gigantic organizations in the world, is a matter that should not be overlooked, according to Mr. Wells. It has its bought newspapers, its paid spies, its agents, its scandals and its shareholders. Governmental loans have often been placed to the credit of smaller nations with the proviso that their armament be purchased from the Krupps.
