DOWNLOAD EBOOKA complete overview of sources of radioactive waste, this book highlights the issues involved in safe transportation and decontamination as well as in decommissioning of nuclear facilities. It covers radioactive decay and radiation shielding calculations, management and disposal of spent nuclear fuel and high level-waste, low-level waste, transuranic waste, Uranium mill tailings, and mixed waste. It discusses technical and regulatory aspects of waste management and provides a look at historical record and its influence on current policy.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis is the first of four volumes that together elaborate on an advanced minimally invasive neurosurgery (MIN) technique for cerebral hemorrhages, which makes it possible to prevent secondary injury by the hematoma and to preserve neurological function and accelerate neuropsychological recovery after the evacuation. It describes in detail the theoretical, technical and training procedures necessary to carry out successful intracerebral hemorrhage evacuations using MIN techniques. A combination of mouth-tracked microsurgery, neuro-sonography, neuro-endoscopy, LASER and sealing makes highly effective, minimally invasive evacuation of all types of hematomas possible. The MIN Key Concept, an advanced new model based on the Keyhole Concept and MIN techniques is also presented. Lastly, the scientific basics of MIN are discussed and summarized. A historical curriculum vitae is included in memory of the main pioneer of innovative MIN techniques, Prof. Axel Perneczky, to whom this book is dedicated.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe classification of radioactive waste varies from state to state. This results in different management procedures for each country, while following IAEA and OECD/NEA recommendations. Radioactive waste comes from numerous sources. The largest volumes are generated by the decommissioning and dismantling of nuclear facilities. Long-lived, medium- and high-activity waste – categorized as the most hazardous types of waste – are in fact largely produced by nuclear power reactors, spent fuel reprocessing plants and nuclear accidents. Final disposal of very low-activity, low-activity and very short-lived waste is well controlled. However, final solutions for certain categories, including long-lived waste, sorted waste and spent graphite waste, are not yet in place. Management of Radioactive Waste reviews all the possible solutions and presents those chosen by the various states, including a chapter detailing policy on radioactive waste management, taking France as an example.
