Richard Williams immigrated to Pennsylvania, ca. 1704. He married Margaret Eaton at Gwynedd, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, in 1717. Their great grandson, John Williams, was born at Wesfield, Surry County, North Carolina, in 1794. He migrated with his parents to Jefferson County, Tennessee, and then Wayne County, Indiana, in 1814. He married Mary Cook, daughter of Joseph and Lydian Wickersham Cook, in 1816. They had five children, 1817-1826. He died in Wayne County in 1826. Descendants lived in Indiana, Wisconsin, California, and elsewhere.
