Etienne Pasquier came to Quebec, or New France, in 1665 from Poitou, France. His descendants changed their last name to Pasquet and later to Paquet when they moved in the 1800s from Quebec City to St. Georges de Windsor in southern Quebec. In the 1890s many Quebec families moved to the New England states to find employment. This genealogy traces the Pasquier/Paquette line of descent from 1665 to 2018 with emphasis on their settlement in St. Georges de Windsor, Quebec and Sandord, Maine.

Paquette, Paquet dit Lavalle, Pasquier, Pasquali descends from "Leidovico (aka) Ludovico Pasquali, Paquet, Pasquier, and Pasquali" (1500-1551) who migrated from Abruzzo, Italy to Brittany, France and married his second wife "Marguerite Collineau dit Montaquerre. This high and noble family, researchers find that they originated in Italy. Upon arriving in France, they branched out to "Dauphine, France" and then to "Lorraine, France" where they became "Seigneurs" in 1708. The Paquette, Paquet, Pasquire, and Pasquali comes from the personal name of "Pasquet" which was a form of "Pascal". The old French word "pacquet" meant "bundle of kindling" thus in some instances the name may have been originally an occupational name for a gather and seller of firewood or kindling. A descendant of this noble family of "Paquet" (Issac Paquet dit Lavalle" the son of "Maturin Paquet & Marie Fremillion" traveled from Poitou, France to New France ((Montreal) Quebec, Canada in the 17th. Century. He was a military soldier of the "Regiment of Carignan" and he decided to stay in New France, when the "King" called this Regiment back to France in 1668. He remained in Montreal working as a soldier and protector of the city, being paid by the local government till he married "Elisabeth Isabelle Meunier" and then went on to raise a very large family as a farmer and woodsman. He married Elisabeth on June 30, 1670 at Chateau-Richer, Quebec.
