This volume is the first comprehensive examination of one of the twentieth century's most distinctive iconoclasts. Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) was a study in contradictions. Born into a fundamentalist Christian family and educated at Cambridge, he was vilified as a traitor, drug addict, and debaucher, yet revered as perhaps the most influential thinker in contemporary esotericism. Moving beyond the influence of contemporary psychology and the modernist understanding of the occult, Crowley declared himself the revelator of a new age of individualism. Crowley's occult bricolage, Magick, was an eclectic combination of spiritual exercises drawn from Western European magical ceremonies and Indic sources for meditation and yoga. This journey of self-liberation culminated in harnessing sexual power as a magical discipline, a "sacrilization of the self" as practiced in Crowley's mixed masonic group, the Ordo Templi Orientis. The religion Crowley created, Thelema, legitimated his role as a charismatic revelator and herald of a new age of freedom. Aleister Crowley's lasting influence can be seen in the counter-culture movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s and in many forms of alternative spirituality and popular culture. The essays in this volume offer crucial insight into Crowley's foundational role in the study of Western esotericism, new religious movements, and sexuality.

The Journey touches on this life on Earth and nine other known past lives from the time of Atlantis through to America and England. Messages are transcribed and faithfully recorded from mediums and spirit communicators over a period of ten years. Eight of the past lives recorded are each with the soul mate of the author. Words of wisdom are brought directly to the author in conscious attunement by the one known as Moses and a spokesman for Archangel Lord Mikaal, on the Solar Planes of Cosmic Creation. Twelve planes of consciousness are revealed, each with a different function of creation from mysticism, colour, art and music, and healing. The colours of the planes and the rays, the beings and their amazing work are brought to life in these unique recordings. "David Tenneson delivers a book on spiritual healing that has been faithfully recorded from his vast spiritual experience throughout his life of 70 years in this form." - Greg Wilson

In 1969, Bill Pinar was privileged to study with Dwayne Huebner at Teachers College. In a large room with 70 others, he watched an extraordinary figure in the distance--speaking a tongue few of them grasped--whom they all found compelling. They knew they were in the presence of a most remarkable and learned man. Huebner helped create the world which contemporary curriculum scholars now inhabit and labor to recreate as educators and theoreticians. His generative influence has been evident in many discourses, including the political, the phenomenological, the aesthetic, and the theological. This volume situates Huebner's work historically, emphasizing the ways it foreshadowed the reconceptualization of the field in the 1970s.
