As some of the illustrious kindred said, we had a reputation to live up to. Judge for yourselves how difficult was our task! The first class meeting, conducted by some of the senior boys, made us realize how important high school was. Soon after this, a rumor drifted about that plans were being made for the freshman reception. We all became more and more nervous as the time drew near. Those of us who had brothers in the upper classes were more frightened than the rest because we knew that this was a good occasion on which to wreak vengeance for certain family quarrels.
