Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: August 29, 1912 The words of the beautiful hymn, Let us treat each other kindly, have prompted me to write upon this subject. They are so expressive of a glorious truth that hours - yes years - could be spent in meditating upon their sacred philosophy, and even then its nearest vestures of beauty would scarcely be touched. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: February 15, 1912 It is not my purpose to discuss the probability or correctness of the above account, further than to say that the boy had fulfilled the requirements of God, inasmuch as he had asked in faith, nothing wavering; consequently it may reasonably be assumed that he was heard by the Father. By accepting this vision as a reality one is forced to conclude that the religious institutions of that day (1820) were but inefficient fragments of the true and perfect church of our Savior; that the church founded through the instrumentality of Joseph Smith contains the true plan of salvation, and consequently is responsible for, the dissemination of the gospel to all the world. It will be profitable now to examine some evidence, scriptural and historical, relating to the question of a universal apostasy. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: January 11, 1912 And this lesson is the eternal lesson of to-day. It is not gold, nor silver, nor brass, nor lead, nor iron, which will bring the eternal peace. It is truth, honor and justice. It is Faith, Hope and Love. It is on the virtues of mankind, upon the freedom of mankind, and the gospel of Jesus Christ that the future of mankind is to be builded. Our Puritan fathers, when landing on the bleak New England shore, in 1620, had announced to all future posterity that through the divine grace of God should this country live. Their compact read. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: December 5, 1912 I wish to call the attention of the despisers of new revelation to the words of Christ, spoken to His disciples on one occasion when treating on the subject of prayer. They are as follows: And I say unto you, Ask, and it Shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: November 28, 1912 Upon it let the clouds distil virtue and richness and let the fields smile with plenty. Let the flocks and herds greatly multiply upon the mountains and hills. Let thy great kindness conquer and sub due the unbelief of Thy people, incline them to gather in upon this land according to Thy word. Let the large Ships of nations bring them from the distant isles, etc. Oh, the meaning of that prayer and the humility of the Divinely called man who uttered it! That prayer is recorded in heaven, as well as upon earth, as shown by its fulfillment before the eyes of all nations. That prayer answers every question that can arise concerning the gathering of Judah in this day. It stands as another witness to all the world of the truth of the restored gos pel of Jesus Christ and the Divine commission that rests upon the leaders of God's Church, to which the world in derision gives the name of Mormonism. Despite present unpopularity and persecution, the world will some day come to realize that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been God's instrument for the fulfillment of His purposes in these latter days. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: June 13, 1912 In considering these objections, the really earnest inquirer is asked to approach the subject with as little prejudice as possible, not seeking to impress his mind upon the Scriptures, but allowing the revelations of God to impress themselves upon him. He should bear in mind that from wishing a thing to be untrue, it is but a short step to believing it to be so, thus permitting the will to bribe the understanding, as is the case with those who consult the Scriptures not to gain knowledge, but to be confirmed in a fore gone conclusion. Excerpt from The Latter-Day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 74: September 5, 1912 In conclusion, President Clawson said he was anxious to hear from each of the presidents. He hoped they would feel perfectly free and report conditions as they existed in their conferences. In this way they would get a great amount of information. This work means the salvation of souls, and is of the utmost importance. He prayed that the Lord would be with them in that convention, that they might rejoice in each other's association and testi mony.
