Richard Frisbie (b. 1585) was married to Margaret Emerson in England in 1618. They sailed to Virginia Colony in 1619 from London aboard the "Jonathan". Their son, James, settled in Maryland about 1664 and was married to Mary. Descendants and relatives lived in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Australia, and elsewhere.

The earliest known ancestor, Johannes Tylghman of Snodland Parish, Kent County, England, was first recorded ca. 1225. Christopher Tilghman, the emigrant, was born ca. 1600, a son of Christopher and Anna Sanders Tilghman, at Selling, Faversham Hundred, Kent Co., England. He died in James City Co., Virginia. He was married to Ruth Devonshire. Descendants live in Maryland, Virginia, California and elsewhere.

John Sanner was born ca. 1635 in Europe and died 1698 in St. Mary's County, Maryland. He had a brother, Thomas, who did not come to America, but he had a son, John, born ca. 1658 who came to St. Mary's County ca. 1676 and died in 1753. Also includes the family of George Ludwig Sanner who immigrated to Philadelphia in 1749. He had two sons, Ludwig (ca. 1755-1827) and Michael (1757-1835). Also includes the family of Isaac Sannar, Sr. (born ca. 1754) who was born in Virginia and married Mary Elizabeth (1755-1864). They had two sons, Isaac and Josiah, born in Cleveland, Ohio.
