The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1989, volume 3, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from August 29 through December 16, 1989. Brother Lee spent the last half of 1989 in Anaheim, California. The contents of this volume are divided into two sections, as follows: 1. Thirty-two messages given in Anaheim, California, on August 29 through December 15. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Experience and Growth in Life and are included in this volume under the same title. Two of the thirty-two messages were combined. 2. Thirty-one messages given in Anaheim, California, on August 30 through December 16. These messages were previously published in a book entitled The Exercise and Practice of the God-ordained Way.
At the time of regeneration, all believers receive the divine life and are begotten as children of God. Yet, this life most grow and it does so by regulation unto maturity and function. This regulation comes from revelation and issues in obedience. This word is crucial for our progress and training in the divine life for our maturity and function in our living and service to God.
When God created man, He placed him before two trees: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life. In warning man to avoid the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, God indicated His desire for man to eat of the tree of life, signifying that man should receive God as his life supply. Witness Lee unveils in The Tree of Life that God is not looking for well-behaved Christians; He is looking for those who will experience and enjoy Christ as the reality of the tree of life.
The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1986, volume 3, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from June 8, 1986, through July 9, 1989. At the beginning of June 1986 Brother Lee returned from Taipei, Taiwan, to Anaheim, California, and was there for a few days before traveling to Irving, Texas, after the third week of June. He spent about two weeks in Irving, and from there he returned to Anaheim and ministered there until the end of August. In the last few days in August Brother Lee returned to Taipei and remained there until the end of the first week in October. Brother Lee then returned to Anaheim and spent about a month there before returning to Taipei in November. At the end of December Brother Lee traveled to Irving and ministered there until the end of the year. The contents of this volume are divided into ten sections, as follows: 1. Three messages given in Anaheim, California, on June 8 through August 24, 1986. These messages are included in this volume under the title Fellowship concerning the New Way. 2. A message given at the funeral of Brother Abraham Chang in Irving, Texas, on July 5, 1986. This message is included in this volume under the title Speaking at Brother Abraham Chang's Funeral. 3. Eleven messages given in Irving, Texas, on July 5 and December 23, 1986, on December 22, 1987, and on December 31, 1988, through January 2, 1989; in Anaheim, California, on July 9, 1988, and on July 8 and 9, 1989; and in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 5, 1988. "The entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, shows us that God is our enjoyment. God also has His fullness (Eph. 3:19b). He is full for us to enjoy. His fullness is the expression of the riches of Christ, and the reality of Christ is in the Spirit. We know this by the revelation of the Word. The riches of Christ are revealed in the Word. Furthermore, we can realize God as our enjoyment in our spirit (John 4:24)."
The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1989, volume 4, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from May 19, 1989, through January 4, 1991. In the middle of May 1989 Brother Lee returned to Anaheim, California, after spending more than two months in the Far East. At the end of the third week in May Brother Lee visited Cleveland, Ohio, and Newton and Cambridge, Massachusetts, until the end of the first week in June. At that time he returned to Anaheim and remained there until the end of 1989. The contents of this volume are divided into eight sections, as follows: 1. Sixteen messages given in Anaheim, California; Cleveland, Ohio; and Newton, Massachusetts, on May 19 through June 6, 1989. These messages were previously published in a ten-chapter book entitled The Advance of the Lord's Recovery Today and are included in this volume under the same title. 2. Two messages given in Anaheim, California, on July 8 and 9, 1989. These messages were previously published in a three-chapter book entitled A Summary of the Study of the New Testament Way of Christian Service and are included in this volume under the same title. In the Lord’s recovery during the past five hundred years the church’s knowledge of the Lord and His truth has been continually progressing. This monumental and classical work by Brother Witness Lee builds upon and is a further development of all that the Lord has revealed to His church in the past centuries. It is filled with the revelation concerning the processed Triune God, the living Christ, the life-giving Spirit, the experience of life, and the definition and practice of the church. In this set Brother Lee has kept three basic principles that should rule and govern every believer in their interpretation, development, and expounding of the truths contained in the Scriptures. The first principle is that of the Triune God dispensing Himself into His chosen and redeemed people; the second principle is that we should interpret, develop, and expound the truths contained in the Bible with Christ for the church; and the third governing principle is Christ, the Spirit, life, and the church. No other study or exposition of the New Testament conveys the life nourishment or ushers the reader into the divine revelation of God’s holy Word according to His New Testament economy as this one does.
The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1988, volume 3, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from April 18 through September 18, 1988. In the first few days of April Brother Lee visited San Jose, California, for two days, and in the second week of April he flew to Taipei, Taiwan, and remained there until early June. He returned to Anaheim, California, and remained there through the third week of July. In the remaining days of July he visited a number of cities in the California Bay Area, including Berkeley, Hayward, San Jose, Los Altos, and San Francisco. In early August he visited Spokane, Washington, and at the end of August he visited Seattle, Washington. In the last few days of August he visited Alhambra, California, and in September he traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, and Atlanta, Georgia. The Collected Works of Witness Lee, 1984, volume 3, contains messages given by Brother Witness Lee from March 3 through December 16, 1984. At the beginning of March Brother Lee traveled to Brazil and spent most of March ministering there. At the end of March he returned from Brazil to Anaheim, California, and remained there until the middle of April. During the last two weeks in April, Brother Lee traveled to Stuttgart, Germany, and on his return to the United States he visited New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Newton, Massachusetts, during the month of May. At the end of May he ministered in Irving, Texas, and in the first few days in June he visited Denver, Colorado. At the end of June Brother Lee returned to Anaheim and remained there until the first week in October. From the middle of October until the middle of November, Brother Lee traveled to the Far East and ministered in Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, South Korea; Taipei, Taiwan; and Quezon City, Philippines. He returned to Anaheim for a few days in the middle of November, and near the end of November he traveled to Irving, where he remained until the end of the year.
