A bestselling modern classic—both poignant and funny—narrated by a fifteen year old autistic savant obsessed with Sherlock Holmes, this dazzling novel weaves together an old-fashioned mystery, a contemporary coming-of-age story, and a fascinating excursion into a mind incapable of processing emotions. Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057. Although gifted with a superbly logical brain, Christopher is autistic. Everyday interactions and admonishments have little meaning for him. At fifteen, Christopher’s carefully constructed world falls apart when he finds his neighbour’s dog Wellington impaled on a garden fork, and he is initially blamed for the killing. Christopher decides that he will track down the real killer, and turns to his favourite fictional character, the impeccably logical Sherlock Holmes, for inspiration. But the investigation leads him down some unexpected paths and ultimately brings him face to face with the dissolution of his parents’ marriage. As Christopher tries to deal with the crisis within his own family, the narrative draws readers into the workings of Christopher’s mind. And herein lies the key to the brilliance of Mark Haddon’s choice of narrator: The most wrenching of emotional moments are chronicled by a boy who cannot fathom emotions. The effect is dazzling, making for one of the freshest debut in years: a comedy, a tearjerker, a mystery story, a novel of exceptional literary merit that is great fun to read.

"Augustus must fall upon taking the crown. If he falls, the goblin people will be saved." ~ Shaman Foretelling Augustus an Grakh, goblin warleader, pursues revenge for an atrocity centuries old that drove the last goblins deep underground. He struggles with elements within his own society that would rather forget the old wrong. Between dodging assassins and facing down the powerful goblin shamen caste and their ominous foretelling, Augustus must lead his people against unknown enemies on the surface above. Artorius Blueiron is a captain in the Royal Dwarven Legionnaires. Though dwarves and goblins have been friends for over a hundred years, he must find a way to stop Augustus from upsetting the already worsening conflict between the cannibalistic Tajumwali Hordes and the Palanisi Empire. But he is also at war with his own dwarven ideals - to let what must be happen. Augustus is determined to have revenge for his people. His destiny will lead him into conflict with the last vestige of decent humanity standing against the Tajumwali Hordes. The world above them does not remember the Tarong goblins. But they will - and the history of the event will be written in rivers of blood. A dark fantasy written from the goblin perspective, the reader comes face-to-face with goblin reasoning on justice, revenge, morality and achievement beyond expectations. Suitable for those who are not weak of heart or character.

A murder was committed. Sir Eustace Brackenstall was killed. Holmes and Watson are a part of the investigation. The first they interview is Brackenstall’s wife, Lady Mary. Then they speak with the maid Theresa. Both of them were in the house during the murder. But still their versions are a bit different. Holmes gets more and more suspicious and he digs deeper in the case ... until he finds a man Lady Mary travelled together with from Australia to England. Who killed Sir Eustace and will the murderer get what he or she deserved? Can the crime be concealed? If so, what for? "The Adventure of the Abbey Grange" is a part of "The Return of Sherlock Holmes". Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was born in Scotland and studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh. After his studies, he worked as a ship’s surgeon on various boats. During the Second Boer War, he was an army doctor in South Africa. When he came back to the United Kingdom, he opened his own practice and started writing crime books. He is best known for his thrilling stories about the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. He published four novels and more than 50 short-stories starring the detective and Dr Watson, and they play an important role in the history of crime fiction. Other than the Sherlock Holmes series, Doyle wrote around thirty more books, in genres such as science-fiction, fantasy, historical novels, but also poetry, plays, and non-fiction.

In my life I have seen the horrors that happen in this world and have on occasions been present when they happened. My experiences of life give me the qualification to write my book. I have written this book for a very young boy who is very severely handicapped and who is gaining more knowledge every day. He is an inspiration to all disabled people. He also is having an adventure. I love him to bits At the moment I am retired after spending a long time with the forces and security service, so have seen a little bit of action. Again enough qualifications to write my book. The forces even gave me a few medals, which are in a case on my wall. It is a shame they have to be taken down to be cleaned. The silver ones seem to tarnish the worse. I live with my wife Ann and we spend our time between the UK and Italy.
