As a leader in teaching, training, and transforming boys in Detroit, Jason Wilson shares his own story of discovering what it means to “be a man” in this life-changing memoir. His grandfather’s lynching in the deep South, the murders of his two older brothers, and his verbally harsh and absent father all worked together to form Jason Wilson’s childhood. But it was his decision to acknowledge his emotions and yield to God’s call on his life that made Wilson the man and leader he is today. As the founder of one of the country’s most esteemed youth organizations, Wilson has decades of experience in strengthening the physical, mental, and emotional spirit of boys and men. In Cry Like a Man, Wilson explains the dangers men face in our culture’s definition of “masculinity” and gives readers hope that healing is possible. As Wilson writes, “My passion is to help boys and men find strength to become courageously transparent about their own brokenness as I shed light on the symptoms and causes of childhood trauma and ‘father wounds.’ I long to see men free themselves from emotional incarceration—to see their minds renewed, souls weaned, and relationships restored.”

If were honest, most of us have times in our lives when continuing forward seems to be the least desirable option. And this even includes people who believe in God. Perhaps one of the most difficult lessons for people coming to a faith-based life is that believing in and accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour does not mean a problem-free life. And although intellectually they may believe that he never asks more of us than we can handle, deep down it can be a difficult truth to live. In The Power to Continue, author Danisa Siziba reminds us that God is the answer to any question, and though life may still be difficult at times, he is there to help us throughjust as he did for those in the Bible. As a fellow disciple of Christ, you can find encouragement from the many biblical examples of men and women who trusted in God and followed the leading of the Spirit. The Power to Continue also offers practical advice for Christians today who are ready to be successful in achieving their divine purpose. In John 8:31, Jesus says, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed. We should therefore continue on our journey of faith and walk forward as Christian disciples of Christ. This walk may be challenging, but it is not how you start but how you finish.

The Life Of David is a message of meditation based on the Bible and written by Arthur Walkington Pink was born in Nottingham, England, to a corn merchant, a devout non-conformist of uncertain denomination, though probably a Congregationalist. Otherwise, almost nothing is known of Pink's childhood or education except that he had some ability and training in music. As a young man, Pink joined the Theosophical Society and apparently rose to enough prominence within its ranks that Annie Besant, its head, offered to admit him to its leadership circle. In 1908 he renounced Theosophy for evangelical Christianity. Desiring to become a minister but unwilling to attend a liberal theological college in England, Pink very briefly studied at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in 1910 before taking the pastorate of the Congregational church in Silverton, Colorado. In 1912 Pink left Silverton, probably for California, and then took a joint pastorate of churches in rural Burkesville and Albany, Kentucky. In 1916, he married Vera E. Russell (1893–1962), who had been reared in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Pink's next pastorate seems to have been in Scottsville. Then the newlyweds moved in 1917 to Spartanburg, South Carolina, where Pink became pastor of Northside Baptist Church. By this time Pink had become acquainted with prominent dispensationalist Fundamentalists, such as Harry Ironside and Arno C. Gaebelein, and his first two books, published in 1917 and 1918, were in agreement with that theological position. Yet Pink's views were changing, and during these years he also wrote the first edition of The Sovereignty of God (1918), which argued that God did not love sinners and had deliberately created "unto damnation" those who would not accept Christ. Whether because of his Calvinistic views, his nearly incredible studiousness, his weakened health, or his lack of sociability, Pink left Spartanburg in 1919 believing that God would "have me give myself to writing." But Pink then seems next to have taught the Bible with some success in California for a tent evangelist named Thompson while continuing his intense study of Puritan writings.

In the beginning, David’s confinement to the cave of Adullam was out of desperation, as he lived in hiding from Saul, who sought to kill him. But this once cold, damp, and dark shelter became a place of earnest supplication for David. The Man Cave explores how David turned his place of disillusionment and despair into a “Center for Life Development” that God used to change not only his personal life but the lives of thousands.
