Murder begins with the click of a button in this true crime story of Facebook, catfishing and deadly jealousy—as seen on Investigation Discovery. Chris was a CIA agent worried for the safety of Jenelle Potter. Contacting her parents and boyfriend, Chris warned them that Billy Payne and Billie Jean Hayworth were bullying Jenelle online and posed an imminent, physical threat. Something needed to be done, Chris said. And he’d have their backs if they took action to protect Jenelle. And so they did. Jenelle’s father and boyfriend murdered Payne and Hayworth in their own home—mercifully leaving the couple’s infant unharmed. But when they told their story to the police, they discovered a devastating truth: there was no Chris. It had been Jenelle the entire time, catfishing them to exact revenge over a Facebook feud. Using forensic linguistics and diving through the brambles that Jenelle laid to cover her tracks, police were able to put together a chilling portrait of a sociopath who set a double murder in motion from the shadows of the internet. Dennis Brooks, the lead prosecutor in this strange and tragic case, examines the crime and trial from all angles in Too Pretty to Live. What the police investigation turned up, though, made this crime all the more terrifying. Jenelle had been Chris the entire time, catfishing her family and her boyfriend to act in vengeance on her behalf. Using forensic linguistics and diving through the brambles that Jenelle laid to cover her tracks, police were able to put together a chilling portrait of a sociopath, made all the more ruthless by the anonymity of her online life. Bizarre and unforgettable, Dennis Brooks examines the crime and trial from all angles, bringing his expertise as the lead prosecutor in the strange and disturbing case.

A century ago, legendary photographer Edward Curtis set about to capture the traditional world of Native Americans before that world vanished. Now, Ben Greenberg has done the same for the natural areas of Virginia. Devoted to preserving and celebrating Virginia’s diverse but sometimes threatened natural richness, Greenberg has spent years creating a collection of more than one hundred stunning images that range from the Commonwealth’s most well-known to its rarely explored landscapes. By framing all of these photographs—whether of the Shenandoah Valley in full fall blaze or of Tidewater piers in the afterglow of sunset—as panoramas, Greenberg heightens the drama and immediacy of the moment, forging an enduring composite portrait that captures Virginia’s natural heritage and at the same time reminds us of its fragility. Natural Virginiadivides the state into three regions: the Tidewater, Piedmont, and the Western mountains and valleys. The images in each, whether of a great blue heron emerging from river mists or of an almost leafless autumnal tree on Skyline Drive, convey a sense of grandeur while simultaneously inviting the viewer in to the intimacy of the settings, as though one might be able to smell the musk of the salt flats or to feel the brush of the fall wind. The photographs highlight the wide-ranging diversity of the Commonwealth’s national and state parks, wildlife refuges and management areas, their rivers, lakes, mountains, and wild creatures. Deane Dozier’s introductory essays to each region offer further insight into the geography and geology of Virginia.

The idea for this beautiful photographic book came from current Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Executive Director Ed Carter in collaboration with outdoor writer Larry Richardson and photographer Tom Wood. Director Carter has been a part of the TWRA family since 1972. All three have an important role to play in this book and all three have a vast knowledge of TWRA and the beautiful places that TWRA has stewardship over. Our state is divided naturally into three sections: East, Middle, and West Tennessee. From the mountains of east Tennessee to the rolling land which lies between the Cumberland plateau on the east and the Tennessee River on the west, to the smooth level plains of the Mississippi Valley in West Tennessee, there are over 100 Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) and refuges across the state that are managed by TWRA. They vary in size from 53 to 625,000 acres. All WMAs are available to the public for hunting, trapping, and other outdoor activities, although certain regulations apply. These areas are fully funded by license sales from hunters and fishermen, and those who wish to support wildlife across our state. Showcasing the state's wildlife management areas in a photo essay, along with highlighting TWRA personnel's interaction with the public in the field, is a special and unique opportunity.Obviously, this project is a labor of love for all those involved, but the ultimate satisfaction is the reward of knowing this book will be valuable to those who turn its pages. Tennesseans everywhere recognize that outdoor recreation attracts and sustains families and businesses, healthy communities, and an overall better quality of life. Whether you are involved in hunting, fishing, boating, wildlife watching or just appreciation of the outdoors, you will love the picturesque pages of this book as it takes you through the photographic journey of ?Tennessee Wilderness-A Legacy Endures.' So get outside and invite someone along on an adventure, just as I am inviting you on a photo adventure through Tennessee's most beautiful areas and the people who are her caregivers.
