Banished for the past five years, she plans to use her aunt’s wedding to show the Henderson elite that she is no longer the boy crazy, wild, party-girl exhibitionist they all loved to gossip about. Yeah. Good luck with that. Josh McCourt, mild-mannered AP Computer Science teacher and newest assistant coach to Henderson High's football team, is ready to break away from his low-key image and take a walk on the wild side. He’s looking for the type of girl who’d sneak into the boy’s locker room after practice and let him chase her around. He’s looking for Molly. Book 8 in the Heroes of Henderson series by USA Today bestselling author Liz Kelly McKenna Blakely’s greatest desire is to marry into the Wright family. Neither an absentee boyfriend, nor another woman, nor a hot, confident rock star is going to thwart her dream. Probably. Because Jagger Yates is not just the lead singer of McKenna’s favorite band, he’s her one-and-only celebrity crush. And he’s just asked her out. A rock star shouldn’t be stuck on the one woman who blew him off after a concert. There are so many fish in that sea. But Jagger is obsessed with the One Who Got Away. He’s pined for her, he’s written songs about her, he’s wallowed in the disheartening memory of her. So running into said muse? Totally knocks him off his game. For about four and a half seconds. Clearly the universe has spoken and, boyfriend or no, Jagger is locked in on McKenna, eager to coax her into changing her tune. And all of Henderson has a front-row seat for this sold-out performance. All the books in the Heroes of Henderson Series are complete romances. They do not need to be read in order, but it might be more fun that way as characters continue to show up in Henderson in big ways and small. The Tamer Tamed is the subtitle or alternative title to John Fletcher's The Woman's Prize, a comedic sequel and reply to The Taming of the Shrew. The plot switches the gender roles of Shakespeare's play: the women seek to tame the men. Katherine (the "shrew" of the original) has died, and Petruchio takes a second wife, Maria. Maria denounces her former mildness and vows not to sleep with Petruchio until she "turn him and bend him as [she] list, and mold him into a babe again." After many comedic exchanges and plot twists, Petruchio is finally "tamed" in the eyes of Maria, and the play ends with the two reconciled. The play is seen to reflect how society's views of women, femininity, and "domestic propriety" were beginning to change. It is said that Fletcher wrote this play to attract Shakespeare's attention - the two went on to collaborate on at least three plays together. This brand new New Mermaid edition offers unique and fresh insight into the critical interpretation of the play. It builds on current critical foundations (the relationship with Taming of the Shrew, gender relations etc) and suggests different areas of interest (popular associations of the shrew, the question of reputation, and a re-examination of the play's structure). as well as examining stage history and recent productions.
