For some, the ability to cry when in emotional pain has been purposely forgotten. This is a practical step-step guide that when used correctly will bring about crying. Also contained within are personal insights the author shares that were invaluable in unlocking the necessary human elements needed to accept one's vulnerability and let go into the tears. As a boy Shane decided he would no longer cry for fear of appearing vulnerable. As he grew into manhood always searching for richer experiences, he realized that crying was a healthy way to release pain. Unfortunately, he'd forgotten how and so whenever the need arose, anxiety took its place. Later in life after a series of events took their toll, he gained the courage to let go of his youthful decision and purposely sought a means to induce the tears. This book marks the success of that search and of a notion that perhaps others were in need of a way back to the path of crying. Now the act of crying cannot simply be awakened if it has been asleep for a long time, key lessons in life have to be learned. These lessons came from Shane's search for inner peace which has led him down many paths such as the Martial Arts, a trip to India, Kundalini Meditation, Diamond Way Buddhist meditation, Acting, and Reiki, all under the guise of Software Engineer. These personal insights are noted to help the reader accept themselves and embrace their humanity thus giving them courage to let go. Shane is currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area. His journey continues!

“When you first view Rose-Lynn Fisher’s photographs, you might think you’re looking down at the world from an airplane, at dunes, skyscrapers or shorelines. In fact, you’re looking at her tears. . . . [There’s] poetry in the idea that our emotional terrain bears visual resemblance to the physical world; that our tears can look like the vistas we see out an airplane window. Fisher’s images are the only remaining trace of these places, which exist during a moment of intense feeling—and then vanish.” —NPR “[A] delicate, intimate book. . . . In The Topography of Tears photographer Rose-Lynn Fisher shows us a place where language strains to express grief, longing, pride, frustration, joy, the confrontation with something beautiful, the confrontation with an onion.” —Boston Globe Does a tear shed while chopping onions look different from a tear of happiness? In this powerful collection of images, an award-winning photographer trains her optical microscope and camera on her own tears and those of men, women, and children, released in moments of grief, pain, gratitude, and joy, and captured upon glass slides. These duotone photographs reveal the beauty of recurring patterns in nature and present evocative, crystalline imagery for contemplation. Underscored by poetic captions, they translate the mysterious act of crying into an atlas mapping the structure and magnificence of our interior lives. Rose-Lynn Fisher is an artist and author of the International Photography Award-winning studies Bee and The Topography of Tears. Her photographs are exhibited in galleries, festivals, and museums across the world and have been featured by the Dr. Oz Show, NPR, Smithsonian, Harper’s, New Yorker, Time, Wired, Reader’s Digest, Discover, Brain Pickings, and elsewhere. She received her BFA from Otis Art Institute and lives in Los Angeles.

Why do we cry when we're angry? What can tears tell us about fatigue? Here is a book to enlighten and encourage all who struggle to understand their tears -- as well as those people who care for them. Drawing on gripping case studies from his experiences as pastor, counselor, and professor, Daniel G. Bagby explores the language of tears. In successive chapters, the book probes beneath tears to uncover emotions and experiences that trigger them: anger, remorse, fatigue, fear, frustration, relief, loneliness, manipulation, and sorrow -- as well as exploring times when we cannot cry. Bagby demonstrates how, when we come to understand and welcome our tears, they become cleansing agents that rid us of physical and psychic toxins, clear our inner vision, and point us to healing and wholeness.

From the bestselling author of The Mountain Between Us comes the moving story of a man with a painful past, a little girl with a doubtful future, and a shared journey toward healing for both of their hearts. It begins on the shaded town square in a sleepy Southern town. A spirited seven-year-old has a brisk business at her lemonade stand. But the little girl’s pretty yellow dress can’t quite hide the ugly scar on her chest. Her latest customer, a bearded stranger, drains his cup and heads to his car, his mind on a boat he's restoring at a nearby lake. The stranger understands more about the scar than he wants to admit. And the beat-up bread truck careening around the corner with its radio blaring is about to change the trajectory of both their lives. Before it's over, they'll both know there are painful reasons why crickets cry . . . and that miracles lurk around unexpected corners. “Charming characters and twists that keep the pages turning.” —Southern Living A Southern Living Book of the Month selection Stand-alone contemporary Christian fiction (approx. 85,000 words) Also by Charles Martin: The Water Keeper, The Mountain Between Us, Send Down the Rain, and Chasing Fireflies

Treatise on Geophysics: Crust and Lithosphere Dynamics, Volume 6, provides a comprehensive review of the state of knowledge on crust and lithosphere dynamics, which is defined as the study of how the outermost layers of the Earth respond to loads that are emplaced on, within, and below it and its implications for plate mechanics and mantle flow. The book begins with a chapter on plate kinematics, which shows how new observations and methodologies have improved the resolution of relative and absolute plate motions. This is followed by studies of plate mechanics, focusing on the long-term rheology of the plates and response of the plates to both relatively short-term and long-term loads. The book also includes chapters that examine the evidence from surface heat flow, borehole breakouts, and magma models for the thermal and mechanical structure of the lithosphere; the deformation of the lithosphere in extensional and compressional settings. The final two chapters deal with the structural styles of faulting in the shallow brittle part of the lithosphere, the brittle-ductile transition, and the shear zone in the ductile part of the lithosphere; and how developments in plate mechanics have impacted our understanding of geological processes. - Self-contained volume starts with an overview of the subject then explores each topic with in depth detail - Extensive reference lists and cross references with other volumes to facilitate further research - Full-color figures and tables support the text and aid in understanding - Content suited for both the expert and non-expert

In this hidden world, there is a ruling planet, one with the supremacy and dominance to control and maintain peace throughout this unknown and untamed vastness for millennia—but in this very different and hidden world, danger lies in wait. It waits for the day when it can crawl back from the darkness to swallow everything whole, when it can take vengeance on those that did it wrong so long ago. Now this evil has stretched out its taloned darkness to our world, and in order to keep peace and destroy this hungering evil, a savior from the hidden vastness must follow into our time. He must come to our world in order to stop this evil from trying to conquer all. This savior is charged with the safety and protection of our world, but with his aid comes the aid of people that are friendlier and keener to our world—people that live here among us but are just as extraordinary as the one trying to save us and just as powerful as the evil plaguing us. Will this savior be capable of awakening the Soul Star, or will the evil consume this plain and get what it has come for? Will the Devilry Hunters unite once again under the banner once lost to save their home, or will their humanity weaken them and allow this evil to prosper?
