DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe fluid inertia effects in the lubricating air film of high-speed tape transport systems have yet to be understood. To cope theoretically with the attendant problems, a computational procedure was developed to solve the Navier-Stokes equations of fluid motion for an incompressible fluid in a doubly-connected region. As a test case, the new procedure was applied to the flow in the annular region between two long eccentric cylinders, one of which is rotating. Excellent agreement is obtained with exact analytical results for the problem when inertia can be neglected. The numerical results are then extended to cover a wide range of operating parameters, with considerable assurance that the predictions so-obtained are accurate. (Author).

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe axial thread-annular flow between two cylinders, where the inner cylinder is in a slightly eccentric position and moving at a constant velocity, is studied. we are particularly interedted on the mathematical modeling of the thread injection by considering the incompressible and steady flow between eccentric cylinders. The mathematical modeling of this application is presented using non-dimensional Navier-stokes equations and the governing equation is solved analytically. a comparison between concentric basic flow, which is considered by Walton (2003), and eccentric basic flow is made. It is found taht there is difference between concentric and eccentric basic flows.
