DOWNLOAD EBOOKBased on material obtained by field expeditions of the National Museums of Canada since 1955, and from other sources, this study provides new information on the distribution and ecology of semiterrestrial and terrestrial amphipods of the North American Pacific and adjacent coastal marine regions. It revises the component species within formal new generic and informal systematics-ecological groups, based mainly on newly recognized taxonomic characters and employing numerical taxonomic methodology. The study also outlines primary facts that contribute to the anomalous regional combination of primitive and advanced morphological types within beach fleas and sandhoppers, and the total absence of native terrestrial species in the North American Pacific coast.
