Berlin, Chicago, Kolkata - three modern cities, whose soundscapes are as different as they are similar. Sebastian Klotz is Professor of Transcultural Musicology and Historical Anthropology of Music at the Humboldt University of Berlin. This book draws from a rich history of scholarship about the relations between music and cities, and the global flows between music and urban experience. This volume reveals the extent to which aural perception influences our spatial awareness.
