This is a continuation of the several previous “legacy” books about Saint Finbarr’s College, Lagos, Nigeria. It is a book of historical legacy of the school, with a long-term reputation for academic excellence, student discipline, and soccer superiority. The focus of this book is to salute, recognize, and celebrate the special group of Students, the athletes, particularly the soccer players. Much has been written about the accomplishments of other groups of ex-Finbarrians, but nothing has been written collectively about the soccer players. It is a book targeting the alumni of the school to bring appropriate glory and recognition to the soccer players of the school, many of whom have gone on to play for the Nigerian National Team as well as play professionally around the world.

The title “Wreckless in the City” is a humorous play on the words reckless (as in carelessness) and wreck (as in a traffic wreck). The hope is that with the lessons learned in this book, traffic wrecks due to recklessness could be reduced, if not eliminated, on city streets and beyond. Although the guide is primarily for teenage drivers, it is also applicable to all drivers (experienced adults included). Not only will readers learn about safe-driving tips and guidelines, the real science of physics, as it relates to motion, can also be appreciated. If I can get the reader’s initial attention through a humorous opening, I will have a chance of retaining the attention through the other critical steps of getting my point across. The goal is to have “wreckless” driving experiences in the city and everywhere else. Auto accidents are the leading cause of death among teenagers, particularly young men. Worldwide records show that every year, almost two million people are killed in road accidents and about 50 million more are seriously injured.

Margin of Death is a cautionary note on death being a slim margin away in the activities we engage in. The book presents safety and life-preservation tips to avoid, minimize, or mitigate accidental disasters that could rob people of their precious lives. Although the topic is serious and unnerving, this book is written in a humorous tone, perhaps to put readers at ease. Life is always at risk from a variety of sources, ranging from accidental, negligent, and deliberate acts. While natural age-driven death is accepted, we should minimize exposure to other non-scheduled, life-robbing incidents, a majority of which are manmade. A near miss is the one we know about, but the narrow margins are the ones we never know.

This is a math-mentoring book without the gory mathematical expressions. The intended purpose of this book is to allay the fear of mathematics that most people have. Math is actually a tame and fun ally in accomplishing a lot of things in life, such as investment, social networking, commerce, technology, engineering, and science. I encourage and spark the interest of young people, especially girls, to embrace Mathematics to their full potential. The inherent mathematical ability may be there, but the confidence and pathway to manifest and leverage the ability may not be known. One way to discover and elicit the underlying ability is through humor and cajoling, which is the purpose of this freeform book.

This is a book about recreational experimentations with making homemade food products. The author narrates how he got into the exciting act of making Stockfish, which is air dried cod fish. The title of this book follows the topical titles of some previous book titles in the ABICS Publications series. Notably, Physics of Soccer, Physics in the Nigerian Kitchen, and Physics of Skateboarding. My website www.PhysicsofSoccer.com states that "Biology determines what we are, Chemistry explains what makes us what we are, and Physics describes what we do." In Stockfish making, chemistry and biology probably plays a bigger role than physics as a science. However, figuratively, “physics” of something is often used to refer to how something is done, as in how to execute the logistics and dynamics of making homemade food products.

The greatest achievement in GAA history finally gets its due: Adrian Russell's The Double is a singular triumph. - Michael Moynihan On 16 September 1990, Cork's footballers ran out on the Croke Park pitch chasing immortality. The Rebel County hurlers, watching on from the Hogan Stand in suits, had won an unlikely All-Ireland a fortnight earlier; their thrilling final victory over Galway capped a hugely fun come-from-nowhere season. Now, if Billy Morgan's footballers could overcome their rivals in Meath, they'd secure sporting history for the county; a Senior All-Ireland double. After hitting a historically low ebb the previous year, the hurlers arrived with a bang led by a hurling fanatic priest. Fr Michael O'Brien built his by plucking players from relative obscurity, coaxing old stars back into action and trusting young guns to make a name for themselves. Billy Morgan's footballers, meanwhile, were a tight-knit, well-travelled side by the summer of 1990. A cast of strong characters, including Larry Tompkins, Niall Cahalane and Dave Barry, who trained hard and partied just as hard, they ended Kerry football's hopes, before running into the Meath machine. Cork were defending champions but questions remained: could they back it up when the pressure was piled on by the hurlers' success? In a long summer that saw the nation celebrate Ireland's Italia '90 success, Cork made its own sporting history. The Double is the story of how they pulled it off.

Cora Staunton is an elite sportswoman: winner of four All-Irelands, 11 All-Stars and five Club All-Irelands. She is a trailblazer in the Australian Football League, and a hero in her native Mayo for her gaelic football skills. But it's been a long and eventful road for Cora. When she was young, she was small for her age, and had to prove herself at every level: to the boys in her club, to the Mayo selectors who took a chance on her as a teenager, but most importantly to herself. From Croke Park to the stadiums of Sydney, Cora has proved herself to be a master of the game. This is the story of how a young football-mad girl became a living legend. A story of female empowerment for younger readers.

Whether it's called soccer, football, or the world's game, soccer is fun and has been deemed the most popular sport in the world. Soccer is about motion. Physics is about the laws of motion, and it can be applied to ball games. Combining soccer and physics is one way to appreciate the high-speed aspects of the sport. In The Physics of Soccer, author Deji Badiru introduces basic mathematics and science concepts in an interesting, useful, and engaging way to enhance how the game is played. The Physics of Soccer teaches both players and coaches how to look at soccer in a new way beyond the physical undertaking it represents to understand the marvels of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics that give soccer its life, power, and thrills. With a background as both a scientist and soccer coach, Badiru also examines the science behind game scenarios, field-based decisions, the geometry of field play, and strategies for assessing the implications of directional motions of opponents and teammates on the field. The Physics of Soccer is an essential resource for any team looking for an advantage that can make the difference between just playing, and winning.

'ABSORBING' Guardian 'ENTHRALLING' New Statesman 'EPIC' Evening Standard 'INESCAPABLE' The Sunday Times 'MAGISTERIAL' Irish Examiner Fully revised and updated, the definitive history of Argentinian football from the award-winning author of Inverting the Pyramid Alfredo Di Stefano, Diego Maradona, Gabriel Batistua, Juan Roman Riquelme, Lionel Messi... Argentina has produced some of the greatest footballers of all time. But the rich, volatile history of Argentinian football is made up of both the sublime and the ruthlessly pragmatic. Jonathan Wilson, having lived in Buenos Aires, is ideally placed to chart the sport's development in a country that, perhaps more than any other, lives and breathes football, its theories and its myths. Fully revised and updated, this new edition looks at the contrasting evolution of Argentinian football over the last ten years; from the chaos and violence of the abandoned 2018 Copa Libertadores final between River Plate and Boca Juniors to the revitalised national side under manager Lionel Scaloni, which triumphed at the 2019 Copa América and the 2022 World Cup. ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES is the definitive history of a great footballing nation and its many paradoxes.
