DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis volume constitutes the proceedings of REFLECTION 2001, the Third Int- national Conference on Metalevel Architectures and Separation of Crosscutting Concerns, which was held in Kyoto, September 25-28, 2001. Metalevel architectures and re?ection have drawn the attention of researchers and practitioners throughout computer science. Re?ective and metalevel te- niques are being used to address real-world problems in such areas as: progr- ming languages, operating systems, databases, distributed computing, expert systems and web computing. Separation of concerns has been a guiding principle of software engineering for nearly 30 years, but its known bene?ts are seldom fully achieved in practice. This is primarily because traditional mechanisms are not powerful enough to handle many kinds of concerns that occur in practice. Over the last 10 years, to overcome the limitations of traditional frameworks, many researchers, including several from the re?ection community, have proposed new approaches. For the ?rst time, papers on advanced approaches to separation of concerns were explicitly solicited. Following the success of previous conferences such as IMSA’92 in Tokyo, Re?ection’96 in San Francisco, and Re?ection’99 in Saint Malo, we hope that the conference provided an excellent forum for researchers with a broad range of interests in metalevel architectures, re?ective techniques, and separation of concerns in general.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKObject-Oriented Behavioral Specifications encourages builders of complex information systems to accelerate their move to using the approach of a scientific discipline in analysis rather than the approach of a craft. The focus is on understanding customers' needs and on precise specification of understanding gained through analysis. Specifications must bridge any gaps in understanding about business rules among customers, Subject Matter Experts, and `computer people', must inform decisions about reuse of software and systems, and must enable review of semantics over time. Specifications need to describe semantics rather than syntax, and to do that in an abstract and precise manner, in order to create software systems that satisfy business rules. The papers in this book show various ways of designing elegant and clear specifications which are reusable, lead to savings of intellectual effort, time, and money, and which contribute to the reliability of software and systems. Object-Oriented Behavioral Specifications offers a fresh treatment of the object-oriented paradigm by examining the limitations of traditional OO methodologies and by describing the significance of competing trends in OO modeling. The book builds on four years of successful OOPSLA workshops (1991-1995) on behavior semantics. This book deals with precise specifications of `what' is accomplished by the business and `what' is to be done by a system. The book includes descriptions of successful use of abstract and precise specification in industry. It draws on the experience of experts from industrial and academic settings and benefits from international participation. Collective behavior, neglected in some treatment of the OO paradigm, is addressed explicitly in this book. The book does not take `reuse' of specifications or software for granted, but furnishes a foundation for taking as rigorous an approach to reuse decisions as to precise specifications in original developments.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 2nd European Workshop on Software Architecture, EWSA 2004, held in Pisa, Italy in June 2005. The 12 revised full research papers, one revised case study, and four revised position papers presented together with one invited presentation on ongoing European projects on software architectures were carefully reviewed and selected from 41 submissions. All current aspects of software architectures are addressed ranging from foundational and methodological issues to application issues of practical relevance.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe themes of the 1997 conference are new theoretical and practical accomplishments in logic programming, new research directions where ideas originating from logic programming can play a fundamental role, and relations between logic programming and other fields of computer science. The annual International Logic Programming Symposium, traditionally held in North America, is one of the main international conferences sponsored by the Association of Logic Programming. The themes of the 1997 conference are new theoretical and practical accomplishments in logic programming, new research directions where ideas originating from logic programming can play a fundamental role, and relations between logic programming and other fields of computer science. Topics include theoretical foundations, constraints, concurrency and parallelism, deductive databases, language design and implementation, nonmonotonic reasoning, and logic programming and the Internet.

The series of Static Analysis s- posia has served as the primary venue for presentation and discussion of th- retical, practical, and application advances in the area. This volume contains the papers accepted for presentation at the 10th - ternational Static Analysis Symposium (SAS 2003),which was held June 11–13, 2003 in San Diego, California, USA. Firmly established as a leading forum in the static analysis area, SAS 2003 received 82 high-quality submissions. Each paper was carefully reviewed, being judgedaccordingtoscienti?cquality, originality, andrelevancetothesymposium topics. Following on-line discussions, the program committee met in Paris, France, ́ at the Ecole Normale Sup ́ erieure on March 15, 2003, and selected 25 papers. In addition to the contributed papers, this volume includes an invited paper by Manuel Hermenegildo (Technical University of Madrid and University of New Mexico)and the abstractof aninvited talk by KenMcMillan (Cadence Berkeley Laboratories). On behalf of the Program Committee and the General Chair, I would like to thank the authors of the submitted papers, and the external referees, who p- vided timely and signi?cant reviews. I owe special thanks to Jacques Beigbeder ́ from Ecole Normale Sup ́ erieure for managing the submission site and the dev- opers of CyberChair for the use of their software. On this occasion, SAS was sponsored by the Association for Computing - chinery(ACM) andwasheld aspartofthe FederatedComputing ResearchC- ference (FCRC 2003). I would like to thank all organizing committee members for all their tremendous work.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKETAPS2000 was the third instance of the EuropeanJoint Conferenceson Theory and Practice of Software. ETAPS is an annual federated conference that was established in 1998 by combining a number of existing and new conferences. This year it comprised ?ve conferences (FOSSACS, FASE, ESOP, CC, TACAS), ?ve satellite workshops (CBS, CMCS, CoFI, GRATRA, INT), seven invited lectures, a panel discussion, and ten tutorials. The events that comprise ETAPS address various aspects of the system - velopment process, including speci?cation, design, implementation, analysis, and improvement. The languages, methodologies, and tools which support these - tivities are all well within its scope. Di?erent blends of theory and practice are represented, with an inclination towards theory with a practical motivation on one hand and soundly-based practice on the other. Many of the issues involved in software design apply to systems in general, including hardware systems, and the emphasis on software is not intended to be exclusive.
