This SpringerBrief investigates the performance of semi-blind independent component analysis (ICA) based equalization and carrier frequency offset estimation approaches (CFO) for a number of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based wireless communication systems. It provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges of channel equalization and frequency synchronization for different wireless systems. The authors present the wireless communication channel and system models. Key existing CFO estimation methods are reviewed, along with a number of the training based and non-training based (blind) channel estimation methods. This is followed by a study of ICA and its applications to OFDM-based wireless communication systems. Later chapters provide a detailed description of recent research on semi-blind CFO estimation and ICA based equalization approaches for various wireless communication systems including multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) OFDM and coordinated multipoint (CoMP) systems. Semi-blind CFO estimation and equalization structures provide a spectrum-efficient and high-performance solution for high speed wireless communications. This book is suitable for postgraduate students, researchers or professionals in the area of wireless communications.

This book presents the proceedings of the Third International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Control (ICEECA2017). It covers new control system models and troubleshooting tips, and also addresses complex system requirements, such as increased speed, precision and remote capabilities, bridging the gap between the complex, math-heavy controls theory taught in formal courses, and the efficient implementation required in real-world industry settings. Further, it considers both the engineering aspects of signal processing and the practical issues in the broad field of information transmission and novel technologies for communication networks and modern antenna design. This book is intended for researchers, engineers, and advanced postgraduate students in control and electrical engineering, computer science, signal processing, as well as mechanical and chemical engineering.

The widespread use of adaptation techniques has helped to meet the increased demand for new applications. From adaptive signal processing to cross layer design, Adaptation in Wireless Communications covers all aspects of adaptation in wireless communications in a two-volume set. Each volume provides a unified framework for understanding adaptation and relates various specializations through common terminologies. In addition to simplified state-of-the-art cross layer design approaches, they also describe advanced techniques, such as adaptive resource management, 4G communications, and energy and mobility aware MAC protocols.

Adaptive techniques play a key role in modern wireless communication systems. The concept of adaptation is emphasized in the Adaptation in Wireless Communications Series through a unified framework across all layers of the wireless protocol stack ranging from the physical layer to the application layer, and from cellular systems to next-generation wireless networks. This specific volume, Adaptive Signal Processing in Wireless Communications is devoted to adaptation in the physical layer. It gives an in-depth survey of adaptive signal processing techniques used in current and future generations of wireless communication systems. Featuring the work of leading international experts, it covers adaptive channel modeling, identification and equalization, adaptive modulation and coding, adaptive multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems, and cooperative diversity. It also addresses other important aspects of adaptation in wireless communications such as hardware implementation, reconfigurable processing, and cognitive radio. A second volume in the series, Adaptation and Cross-layer Design in Wireless Networks(cat no.46039) is devoted to adaptation in the data link, network, and application layers.
