"The Schoenebeck explosives plant of the Lignose Sprengstoff Werke GmbH surveyed by the explosives branch of Team 83, Oil, Rubber and Chemical Division of USSBS, is the largest plant of a number owned and controlled by this company. It is located at Bad Salzemen, Schoenebeck, ten miles south of Magdeburg on the River Elbe. The plant consists of 309 well-camouflaged buildings and occupies an area of about 125 acres. The principal production of the plant in peacetime was industrial explosives (Donarit and Chloratit), detonators and fuses. During the war, it started to produce explosives for the needs of the army. Only one attack was made on this target at 2330 hours on 21 January 1944 by the RAF"--Page 1.
