DOWNLOAD EBOOKIn the Spring of 1991, with funding from NHTSA, the Transportation Research Board's Task Force on the Mobility and Safety of Older Drivers initiated a study to identify, synthesize and prioritize the critical research and development needs for maintaining the safety and mobility of older drivers. This Circular describes the nature of this study and introduces the Task Force's Research and Development Needs Statement for the decade of the 1990s. The Statement identifies 16 major areas where resources should be concentrated during the upcoming decade. The major criterion for inclusion in the group of 16 was a consensus high priority rating from the Task Force membership. These items are summarized in a table and discussed in the text of the Circular.
