DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe objective of this radiological defense planning study was the development of effective model radiological defense plans for civil defense organization levels from locality to state. These plans are designed to minimize the number of casualties that would occur from radiological fallout in the event of an enemy nuclear attack. The project has been carried out with maximum emphasis on the physical principles governing radiological fallout and on the approach to planning provided by methods of operations research. Greatest emphasis has been placed on plans for the local level and for other organizations below state for two reasons: 1) It is at these levels that the non-military protection actions must be taken. 2) The planning at the federal and state levels is well advanced relative to that at the lower levels.
