In My Testimony, I open my closet to give you a glimpse of some of the pitfalls, pain, and adversities that I experienced. I also share how I was victorious in overcoming adversity after I learned to take ownership for my actions. I share how I accepted my charge to make the appeal that folks stop doing wrong and calling it right. My heartfelt desire for you is that you exercise Godly wisdom to avoid some pitfalls that can cause much trauma and significant drama. The key to avoiding some of the major painful experiences is to completely trust God. He stands ready to grant us the desires of our hearts; however, we tie his hands through our willful acts of disobedience to his Word, his way, and his will. In some instances, it took me a long time to obtain wisdom because, for so long, I insisted on being stuck on stupid. For too long, I was determined to do things my way. I did not give any serious thoughts to the devastating consequences to me and to those connected to me. In My Testimony, I candidly reveal my exposure to major church hurt. There is no hurt like church hurt. But I survived it, and I want you to know that so can you. Those tests serve to make you better, not bitter! I learned that forgiveness is a matter of the heart. My experiences have given me the ability to be bold, real, transparent, and explicit in my appeal to encourage folks to abandon their evil and wicked ways. God is not mocked! The Word of God is clear in that we will reap what we sow! I share with you how I learned to allow God to come into my life and super rule, trusting him unconditionally with my life for he is my creator and he knows what is best for me. I want to encourage believers to be true followers of Christ—living a life that is pleasing and acceptable in the sight of God.
A handbook of help and hope when facing personal tragedy. When the storms of life blow in unexpectedly, wreaking havoc and leaving a trail of destruction, why does one person fall apart while another perseveres and even finds a deeper sense of purpose afterward? In Beyond the Storm, Debra Morton reveals why, providing the techniques and strategies that helped her and many others not only survive but also thrive, even in the most painful of circumstances. While ministering to victims of Hurricane Katrina and grieving the death of her granddaughter, Morton realized that the key to pushing forward in the midst of setbacks was having a defined set of coping skills. So she created the “Storm Playbook,” which teaches how to renew your hope, reclaim your passion, and experience fulfillment and joy again. That playbook is here for you to use immediately, along with interactive tools, journaling questions, and scripture studies that will guide you through pain and struggle and into strength and victory once again. Beyond the Storm is an essential help for flourishing after the devastating effects of life’s blows so you can actively pursue the purpose you were designed to fulfill.
God Is a Strong Shelter: Weathering the Storms through Reading Psalms brings faith to the center stage for believers. It is a spiritual roadmap and guide that reflects the Bible for the ultimate answer and a practical, biblical, and theological resource for the church to take a deep dive into the Psalms. The primary focus is to carefully examine the psalms for hope and protection in a world of persuasive tactics of scheming. Believers are encouraged to trust God by reading what I call the Great Affirmation of faith in Ps 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” This book tells how the psalmists communicated to God amid personal encounters with enemies during turbulences of life.

Humanity must have food and drink each day in order to survival. Humanity must pause for a time of rest each day in order to maintain the strength to perform the task of the following day. Humanity must enter into some type of relationship with another person each day unless he began to feel isolated and inferior. Just as the physical and psychological aspects of man must have certain needs met each day, so must the spirit of man. We may go with the fl ow for awhile, but deep within the confi des of humanity is the soul. And that soul must experience and enjoy a renewal. Such renewal is found in a daily relationship with the Creator of life. Man must pause from his daily routine and purposefully focus on the Word of God which in turn will enrich, encourage and enable him to face each circumstance and condition that a days activities may confront him. The Bible declares, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 4):31 KJV). Within the pages of this daily devotional, you will fi nd strength, stability and satisfaction awaiting you each step of every day.
