DOWNLOAD EBOOKIntended as a tool for non-formal education practitioners and researchers in identifying a range of relatively fugitive material, this bibliography includes 1,779 references to descriptive and analytical materials concerning the use of the performing arts as a medium for education and social change in the Third World. An introductory essay offers a state-of-the-art review of such major concepts as folk media and popular theater, the various strands of educational and developmental activity, and their varying methodologies, contents, and organizational contexts. Uses of the performing arts within mass national education programs, small-scale community education/development projects, and popular movements are contrasted and compared. It is concluded that the field is much broader than the folk media programs often cited in development literature. Citations are alphabetically arranged by main entry and are accessible via extensive geographical and topical indexes. (Author/LMM)

DOWNLOAD EBOOKIn Decolonizing Patagonia: Mapuche Peoples and State Formation in Argentina, Lucas Savino examines Indigenous efforts for self-determination, territorial autonomy, and decolonization in Northern Patagonia, Argentina. Through an analysis of the ways in which Mapuche activists organize in particular localities in the province of Neuquén, this book contributes to broader theoretical understandings of collective identity formation and Indigenous activism under multicultural neoliberal regimes of citizenship. Building on interdisciplinary contributions on state formation, citizenship, and collective identity formation, Savino demonstrates that territorial struggles and the importance of the local political level are crucial for understanding how collective identities are configured.
