A cut above the rest! Kring, Davison, Neale, and Johnson’s Abnormal Psychology sets the standard for clarity, cutting-edge coverage, authoritative content, and clinical emphasis. The authors invite students to examine the many different facets of psychopathology––to search for clues, follow-up on hunches, and evaluate evidence on the origins of these disorders and the effectiveness of specific interventions. Now in their new 10th Edition, the authors have also greatly expanded the text’s pedagogical features, making it even more student-friendly, engaging, and informative. “Current trends in the field are well reflected with the sections on genetics, neuroscience, and cognitive science.” – Jack Nitschke,University of Wisconsin “I was particularly impressed by the skill with which the authors were able to discuss complex material in a clear fashion.” – Janice Kiecolt-Glaser, Ohio State University WileyPLUS helps students reach their full potential WileyPLUS provides everything needed to create an environment where students can reach their full potential and experience the exhilaration of academic success. For 2-semester A&P lab course and 1-semester human anatomy lab course A Photographic Atlas for Anatomy & Physiology is a new visual lab study tool that helps students learn and identify key anatomical structures. Featuring photos from Practice Anatomy Lab (TM) 3.1 and other sources, the Atlas includes over 250 cadaver dissection photos, histology photomicrographs, and cat dissection photos plus over 50 photos of anatomical models from leading manufacturers such as 3B Scientific(R), SOMSO(R), and Denoyer-Geppert Science Company. Two-page spreads with cadaver and anatomical model photos side-by-side help students to better learn and identify structures. The Atlas is composed of 13 chapters, organized by body system, and includes a final chapter with cat dissection photos. In each chapter, students will first explore gross anatomy, as seen on cadavers and anatomical models, and then conclude with relevant histological images.

The petroleum age began about 150 years ago. Easily available energy has s- ported major advances in agriculture, industry, transportation, and indeed many diverse activities valued by humans. Now world petroleum and natural gas s- plies have peaked and their supplies will slowly decline over the next 40–50 years until depleted. Although small amounts of petroleum and natural gas will remain underground, it will be energetically and economically impossible to extract. In the United States, coal supplies could be available for as long as 40–50 years, depending on how rapidly coal is utilized as a replacement for petroleum and natural gas. Having been comfortable with the security provided by fossil energy, especially petroleum and natural gas, we appear to be slow to recognize the energy crisis in the U. S. and world. Serious energy conservation and research on viable renewable - ergy technologies are needed. Several renewable energy technologies already exist, but sound research is needed to improve their effectiveness and economics. Most of the renewable energy technologies are in uenced by geographic location and face problems of intermittent energy supply and storage. Most renewable technologies require extensive land; a few researchers have even suggested that one-half of all land biomass could be harvested in order to supply the U. S. with 30% of its liquid fuel! Some optimistic investigations of renewable energy have failed to recognize that only 0. 1% of the solar energy is captured annually in the U. S.
