DOWNLOAD EBOOKA renowned worker on Indian medicinal plants, Dr. K.R. Kirtikar of Indian Military Service also worked on poisonous plants and his findings were published in a series of papers I-XX in Journal of Bombay Natural History Society under the title ``The Poisonous Plants of Bombay'' during 1892-1904. The early volumes of the Journal of Bombay Natural History Society are rare and not available in Libraries. Therefore, we have compiled these papers and presented in a book form for easy reference. Colour plates published by Dr. Kirtikar have not been included due to brittleness of the paper and a few being not available, probably damaged due to brittleness. Figures of these plants are available in many botanical books. This compilation is very useful to persons of medical profession, pharmacologists, and botanists working on medicinal and poisonous plants.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKOver-two thirds of the U.S. population is allergic to poison oak, poison ivy, or a related plant. These and many other common plants in our homes, fields, and gardens are irritants that cause misery to many. But surprisingly, there has never been a general guide to help raise awareness of them--and to help avoid them. This new book reviews the history, occurrence, classification, toxicity, and health aspects of all the major allergenic and irritant species.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKWritten as a reference to be used within University, Departmental, Public, Institutional, Herbaria, and Arboreta libraries, this book provides the first starting point for better access to data on medicinal and poisonous plants. Following on the success of the author's CRC World Dictionary of Plant Names and the CRC World Dictionary of Grasses, the author provides the names of thousands of genera and species of economically important plants. It serves as an indispensable time-saving guide for all those involved with plants in medicine, food, and cultural practices as it draws on a tremendous range of primary and secondary sources. This authoritative lexicon is much more than a dictionary. It includes historical and linguistic information on botany and medicine throughout each volume.
