Three cunning scientists are on the verge of transforming humanitys very existence. With their Orion3 serum, the trio aims to give birth to a race of humans with special abilities ranging from the regeneration of lost limbs to unmatched intelligence and eidetic memory. Two unsuspecting test subjects have their lives forever changed through a labyrinth of confusion, horror, shock, and amazement. Jack Turner and a man simply known as The Mexican, have their lives inexorably entwined with both men having to fight for not only their lives but for that in which they unequivocally believe. Sheriff Ryan Adersen and Deputy Dave Donahue are desperately trying to put an end to the horrific killings in their beloved town. Will the duo be able to restore the peace, or will Clover Vale forever be cast in a shadow of death and hopelessness? Orion3 is a morally disputed tale of good versus evil where the light does not always conquer the dark. Sometimes evil reigns to leave chaos in its wake. Sometimes death is dealt to those most undeserving. Yet sometimes it takes just one righteous man to vanquish the dark.

Transparent electrodes (TEs) are a class of materials that make it possible to bring electrical current or potentials in close proximity to optically active regions without significant loss of optical energy. However, it is a challenge to decouple the electrical and optical properties of a material, as the property of conductivity is strongly coupled to the imaginary part of the refractive index. An ideal TE has high transparency in combination with very low electrical resistivity. The main objective of the thesis was to develop TEs which can replace expensive, scarce and fragile Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), the most widely used TE material in the industry today. The thesis contains original work on ultrathin metal film (UTMF)-based TEs, which are essential elements in a wide range of optoelectronics, consumer electronics and energy devices. It presents new designs and fabrication methods and demonstrates the efficient use of UTMF-TEs in organic light emitting diodes and solar cells, achieving similar levels of efficiency to that of state-of-the-art ITO.

This is the inspiring story of a softhearted boy who wants nothing more than to find his place in the world. Raised in a troubled home by parents he didn’t ask for; he has a strange feeling his life is being shaped by something—or someone. Not knowing what else to do, he runs away to go searching for answers. Along the way, he’s introduced to a shaman who guides him through a vision quest. What happens next is his journey of self-discovery, of learning to trust, of finding out what happens when we die. Through the boy’s eyes, we rediscover that sparkling and often fleeting moment from our childhood—when we realize that we are all just spiritual beings learning to be human in this world. Between Here and There is the modern-day telling of the hero’s journey but offered in a way that blends spirituality and technology never before told. It takes us from questioning our very existence to remembering we already knew the answer. Between Here and There is a story that begins where it ends.

CVD, or cardiovascular disease, is a general term that describes a disease of the heart or blood vessels. It is one of the most common causes of death. Statins are a group of medicines that can help lower the level of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol in the blood. LDL cholesterol of often referred to as ‘bad cholesterol’, and statins reduce its production in the liver. Having a high level of LDL is potentially dangerous as it can lead to hardening and narrowing of the arteries (NHS). Comprising nearly 1000 pages, this book is a comprehensive guide to the latest advances in statin therapy and its clinical application for cardiovascular disease. Divided into 29 sections, the text begins with clinical aspects of CVD, dyslipidemia (the imbalance of lipids such as cholesterol), and the use of statins for treatment. The next sections provide detailed discussion on the use of statins for different types of CVD, including coronary artery disease, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmia, stroke, and more. The following chapters cover statin use for other systemic diseases such as obesity, kidney disease, diabetes, ocular disorders, skin conditions and many more. The book concludes with an insight into future therapies, with emphasis on PCSK9 inhibitors, a new treatment for lowering cholesterol in the blood.
