Mícheál Ó Dubhshláine was Principal of Dún Chaoin National School in County Kerry, Ireland, from 1970 to 2003. During that period he published several books pertaining to Kerry and to the Blasket Islands in particular, but as a native of Kilkea in County Kildare, he never lost interest in his people, their history and folklore. He began work on Are You Going Home Now? in the early 1990s which concluded with his untimely death in 2006. Pre-World War II Hollywood musicals weren't only about Astaire and Rogers, Mickey and Judy, Busby Berkeley, Bing Crosby, or Shirley Temple. The early musical developed through tangents that reflected larger trends in film and American culture at large.
