Come walk the route with me, and experience the day by day life of your friendly city letter carrier. See the joys and admiration, the love, affection, and acts of kindness and appreciation of which so often is shown by and for the postman. Read of his hobbies, his habits, and of his trauma from a dreadful disease which was with him for the last twenty-five years, and into retirement. This is the true story of the experiences, the joy, and the sorrow of a city letter carrier in a mid-western city in the United States. Here-in he tells of his thirty-one years as a letter carrier, a two year period of which was on trial supervision, and sixteen years of retirement. In this short story, you, the reader have seen only a very few of my own personal experiences of trying to be one of Uncle Sam's respected courriers. There are thousands out there like me just waiting to be heard from, and I hope this book will get them all fired up to telling their own stories.

Dani Putney's debut poetry collection, SALAMAT SA INTERSECTIONALITY, is a lyrical triptych that traces the evolution of the speaker's identity as a queer, non-binary, mixed-race Filipinx, and neurodivergent individual. Each "panel" of the speaker's life represents a distinct period of growth: a youthful beginning, which features important interactions with the speaker's parents; a sexually charged middle period that demonstrates the speaker's explorations of queer sexuality; and a contemplative third section wherein the speaker reckons with their various "selves." Imagery of the American West percolates through the collection to ground the speaker in their intersectional identity.

For many, the word “emo” calls to mind angsty teenagers, shaggy black haircuts, and skinny jeans. A popular music phenomenon in the early 2000s, emo is short for “emotional hardcore,” and refers to both a music genre and a youth scene notable for its androgynous style. Judith May Fathallah pushes beyond the stereotypes and social stigma to explore how online fandom has shaped the definition of emo, with significant implications both for millennial constructs of gender and for contemporary fan studies. First laying out the debate over what emo is, Fathallah walks superfans and newcomers through the culture surrounding thegenre’s major bands, including the emo holy trinity: My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and Panic! At the Disco. Next she examines fans’ main mode of participation in the emo subculture—online communities such as LiveJournal, Tumblr, MySpace, and band websites. Taking a hard look at the gender politics that dominated those spaces, she unearths a subculture that simultaneously defines itself by its sensitivity and resistance to traditional forms of masculinity, yet ruthlessly enforces homophobic and sexist standards. Fathallah demonstrates fandom’s key role in defining emo as a concept and genre after 2001, with probing insight into its implications for gender constructions through popular music.
