He married Mary Elizabeth Tadlok (1860-1923), daughter of Thomas Christopher Tadlock (1838-1886) and Sarah Elizabeth Jones, in 1879 in Stanford, Iowa. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina, Indiana, Missouri and Minnesota.
