DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book describes the principles of integrated assessment models (IAM) for climate change economics and introduces various computable models for different development mechanisms under climate change governance. The authors present several new models they have constructed based on the RICE framework, specifically the MRICES((multi-factor RICE)) and EMRICES models, which incorporate global economic interactions into the RICE framework, and the CINCIA model, which describes technological advances and industrial structure evolution, introducing the mechanism of evolutionary economics. The models discussed in the book help governments and policy-makers tackle climate change and take positive measures on climate governance as well as promote economic and social development to narrow the gaps between countries.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKFocusing on S.E. Asia, the economics of climate change and the relationship between climate change and economic development, this book examines the region's vulnerability to the impact of climate change, forecasts environmental and economic outcomes and opportunities these factors provide for policy actions towards alleviating this vulnerability.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis open access book analyzes and seeks to consolidate the use of robust quantitative tools and qualitative methods for the design and assessment of energy and climate policies. In particular, it examines energy and climate policy performance and associated risks, as well as public acceptance and portfolio analysis in climate policy, and presents methods for evaluating the costs and benefits of flexible policy implementation as well as new framings for business and market actors. In turn, it discusses the development of alternative policy pathways and the identification of optimal switching points, drawing on concrete examples to do so. Lastly, it discusses climate change mitigation policies’ implications for the agricultural, food, building, transportation, service and manufacturing sectors.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKMacroeconomics of Climate Change in a Dualistic Economy: A Regional General Equilibrium Analysis generates significant, genuinely novel insights about dual economies and sustainable economic growth. These insights are generalize-able and applicable worldwide. The authors overcome existing limitations in general equilibrium modeling. By concentrating on tensions between green growth and dualism, they consider the global efforts against climate change and opposition by specific countries based on economic development needs. Using Turkey as their primary example, they address these two most discussed and difficult issues related to policy setting, blazing a path for those seeking an applied economic research framework to study such economic considerations. Couples a CGE climate change mitigation policy analysis with a dual economy approach Presents methods to model and assess policy instruments for mitigating climate change Provides data sets and models on a freely-accessible companion website Offers a path for those seeking an applied economic research framework to study economic considerations

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book reviews the different approaches used to model the dynamic interactions between climate and economies, and proposes new avenues of research. Its fourteen chapters deal with various aspects of the building of integrated assessment models, either by coupling economic growth and climate change modules, or using mathematical models of viability or dynamic game theory to represent the interactions between the world regions concerned.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe identification of the effects of climate shocks on economic growth is central to design effective policies aiming at managing the future global climate change challenge. In this study, we investigate the effects of temperature and precipitation shocks on economic growth across different countries by means of a new methodology, namely a Bayesian Structural Global VARX model. This setup accommodates economic interpretation of the shocks and accounts for crosssectional spillovers among countries, as well as endogeneity of the climate variables with respect to the economy. Results show a high degree of heterogeneity, with some economies positively and some others negatively affected by climate shocks. In contrast with a consistent strand of the literature, according to which hot and poor countries bear the heaviest burden, we show that climate shocks may have severe effects for the economic growth of rich and cold countries as well. Furthermore, accounting for trade interdependence across countries, we document that, in response to unexpected temperature and precipitation shocks, some economies benefit from interconnections, while some others are damaged, depending on some key structural characteristics as the import-export mix, the relevant trade partners network and the level of economic development.
