Excerpt from Manual of the Antiseptic Treatment of Wounds: For Students and Practitioners The present manual is written with the view of enabling students to obtain a thorough knowledge of the practical details of the best methods of treating Wounds. It is not, however, intended in any way to be a substitute for the larger works on Antiseptic Surgery; for without a thorough knowledge of the scientific basis of wound treatment, of its development as shown by its history, and of what it can do, the best results are not likely to be obtained, nor can progress be made. In the introductory chapters I have treated of matters which were not ripe for discussion when my work on Antiseptic Surgery was written; and thus I hope that the two volumes will furnish the reader with as complete a view of the subject as is possible at the present time. Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.
