Duncan McPherson was born in Scotland. He emigrated and married Sarah in about 1812, probably in North Carolina. They had two known sons, John Templeton McPherson (ca.1813-1876) and Randal McPherson (1815-1883). John married Hannah Hadley in 1840 in Morgan County, Indiana. They had nine children.
