“A no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is guide to pursuing a successful military career” from a Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force (Midwest Book Review). A.J. Kehl’s well-crafted guide is designed with one purpose in mind: To make sure you make the most out of your time in the armed forces. Sgt. Kehl distinguishes his book from any other you will read, pointing out all the important things that rarely, if ever, make it to print. Hot items such as promotion, leadership, networking, and traveling make this a must-read for anyone now on active duty, thinking of joining the military, or who has spent time within this unique lifestyle. My Rich Uncle includes an invaluable collection of knowledge, wisdom, and insight from numerous USAF leaders, all of which is geared toward helping fellow airmen find success in their careers by highlighting the cultural things we expect airmen to know, or at least figure out, but which are rarely taught. This book will help you successfully navigate an Air Force career by providing insight into the expectations and the steps for YOU to take in order to maximize your service time and set yourself up for success. It also highlights little known programs, like Air Force Lean and Continuous Process Improvement, that empower airmen to find root cause solutions and reduce time-wasting practices that do not further your career. My Rich Uncle: An Informal Guide to Maximizing Your Enlistment is written by an airman for men and women who want to get the most out of their service. “This is a military guide like no other!” — J. Lewis, Command CMSgt (Ret.)

Whether your heart is burdened or bursting with joy, nothing satisfies quite like talking things over with another woman. Regardless of the paths our lives take, all women are "sisters"-we speak a common language; we share a universal bond. Because the hopes and dreams that both burden and give flight to a woman's heart dwell within all of us, we create relationships that are intensely rich, precious and prized. Thus, we comfort and encourage each other; we help each other through life's ups and downs; we know each other's experiences as if they were our own; we are a blessing to each other. As this book of beautiful, inspirational life lessons reveals, sharing the experiences of our lives imbues us with a wisdom the soul reveres: Nothing happens without God's permission.

Life is . is a roller coaster ride. It has peaks of exhilaration and valleys of despair. The author will make you happy and at times he will tug at your heartstrings. When he feels that the reader may be stretched a little, he will take you off the roller coaster. He will take you on a trip, tell you funny stories, and philosophize about life in general. He will quote scriptures to support his feelings about why things happen as they do. But rest assured, he will put you back on that roller coaster. When I finished the manuscript and laid it down, I had a hard time letting it go. I started thinking about what life is to me. As I compared the author's ideas to my own, it occurred to me that is what the author intended. If it is, he accomplished his purpose. Charles R. Brown Ray Rouse was born on a farm in Lenoir County, NC, about five miles west of the City of Kinston. He was born in 1924, the youngest of nine children-seven boys and two girls-including two sets of twin boys. His father was a renter of farms, having lost his own farm through fiscal difficulties in 1918. The family moved off the farm and into Kinston when Ray was six years old. Those were hard times in which family members dropped out of school in order to find jobs to help support the family. After surviving the Great Depression and thirty three months in the US Army during World War II, he married Annie Phillips after a courtship of two years-and became father of a son and daughter. He retired from the insurance profession at age seventy. He and his wife live a quiet and enjoyable life in Kinston, NC, a city of about 23,000 population.

To describe what this book is about would defeat its purpose since it is about living a meaningful life without purpose. Purpose is overrated, writes the author. What is it your business what purpose God or intelligent design or Darwin had in mind when the idea of you came up? What makes you think that your right to life hangs on some kind of particular task and that you were specifically hired to perform it? And anyway, if you know why you are here, what would be the point in you being here, altogether? Basically, you are here for the purpose of not knowing why. So deal with it. We are indeed living very much in a purpose-driven culture that has all but robbed us of the gift of meaning and replaced it with the urgency of purpose. As a result, more and more of us are judging one another not for who we are but for what weve accomplished and for what sort of justification weve come up with for existing. Thus, people rarely ask So tell me about yourself. Rather, its mostly You got a card? To paraphrase comedian Jackie Mason, Everybody is handing out business cards, but the only ones making a living are the printers. The search for purpose becomes more urgent when we feel we exist by no choice of our own because when things get rough, there better be sufficient justification for being here that makes going through this shit worthwhile. On the other hand, when we focus on meaning rather than on purpose, we liberate ourselves from the constraints of the have-tos and breathe in the pristine gift of the moment and of each phase in the magic of our life unfolding.
