It is in the air. Halloween has passed, and so has Thanksgiving, and we are in December. Christmas is near. Let Us Celebrate the Season! is a different kind of advent calendar. There are twenty-seven poems and stories, each to be read on the day you open the book in December, should it be December 1 or December 21 or any other December day. I remember my mother doing so with a rather special Advent calendar when my sister and I were children. Every evening, she took my sister and me on her lap, and we talked about the little verse on the calendar door and what it meant. It was always such a special event. I’ve been writing poetry for most of my life. However, way back in the day, who would ever think of recording those creations for posterity? It was about forty years ago that I began to make copies of my work, and before I knew it, I had boxes of poems in chronological order. When I retired in 2000, I thought I could keep better track of my poems if they were in alphabetical order. That was when I emptied all those old boxes and replaced the yellowed pieces of paper with my poems retyped onto nice white paper and placed neatly into a file cabinet. But I thought you might be bored meeting my friends alphabetically from A to Z, even meeting them from 1950 to present. That is a long, long time.
Hey! Let's celebrate you! You are special, you are unique, and inside of you are talents and gifts that are needed on this Earth. You were created to fulfill a special plan that God preplanned before you were born. Just think, if Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Picasso, and da Vinci never discovered their gifts and talents, we would have missed out big time. Thank God first for giving those gifts and talents. Whatever gifts and talents are in us were meant to be given away to bless others. Something as simple as a smile or a word of encouragement given can bless the world. Let's Celebrate You will give you insight into seeing and learning to appreciate your uniqueness without it you will never allow what God has put in you to flow out of you. Let's Celebrate You will help you see how important it is to kick out discouragement; it is a dream killer. Jesus said the kingdom of God has suffered violence and the violent take it by force. For your dreams to be fulfilled, you will have to be violent against discouragement. It may feel like all the forces of hell are coming against you just because you are trying to give birth to your dream. Every great dream has had to overcome great opposition and discouragement to win.
