DOWNLOAD EBOOKThree years have passed since the publication of the Russian edition of this book, during which time the method described has found new applications. In [26], the author has introduced the concept of the periodic product of two groups. For any two groups G and G without elements of order 2 and for any 1 2 odd n ~ 665, a group G @ Gmay be constructed which possesses several in 1 2 teresting properties. In G @ G there are subgroups 6 and 6 isomorphic to 1 2 1 2 G and G respectively, such that 6 and 6 generate G @ G and intersect 1 2 1 2 1 2 in the identity. This operation "@" is commutative, associative and satisfies Mal'cev's postulate (see [27], p. 474), i.e., it has a certain hereditary property for subgroups. For any element x which is not conjugate to an element of either 6 1 or 6 , the relation xn = 1 holds in G @ G • From this it follows that when 2 1 2 G and G are periodic groups of exponent n, so is G @ G • In addition, if G 1 2 1 2 1 and G are free periodic groups of exponent n the group G @ G is also free 2 1 2 periodic with rank equal to the sum of the ranks of G and G • I believe that groups 1 2

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe book is devoted to new and classical results of the theory of linear partial differential operators in Gevrey spaces. The “microlocal approach” is adopted, by using pseudo-differential operators, wave front sets and Fourier integral operators.Basic results for Schwartz-distributions, c∞ and analytic classes are also included, concerning hypoellipticity, solvability and propagation of singularities. Also included is a self-contained exposition of the calculus of the pseudo-differential operators of infinite order.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis volume aims to highlight trends and important directions of research in orthogonal polynomials, q-series, and related topics in number theory, combinatorics, approximation theory, mathematical physics, and computational and applied harmonic analysis. This collection is based on the invited lectures by well-known contributors from the International Conference on Orthogonal Polynomials and q-Series, that was held at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, on May 10-12, 2015. The conference was dedicated to Professor Mourad Ismail on his 70th birthday. The editors strived for a volume that would inspire young researchers and provide a wealth of information in an engaging format. Theoretical, combinatorial and computational/algorithmic aspects are considered, and each chapter contains many references on its topic, when appropriate.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKNotes and Reports in Mathematics in Science and Engineering, Volume 3: On the Cauchy Problem focuses on the processes, methodologies, and mathematical approaches to Cauchy problems. The publication first elaborates on evolution equations, Lax-Mizohata theorem, and Cauchy problems in Gevrey class. Discussions focus on fundamental proposition, proof of theorem 4, Gevrey property in t of solutions, basic facts on pseudo-differential, and proof of theorem 3. The book then takes a look at micro-local analysis in Gevrey class, including proof and consequences of theorem 1. The manuscript examines Schrödinger type equations, as well as general view-points on evolution equations. Numerical representations and analyses are provided in the explanation of these type of equations. The book is a valuable reference for mathematicians and researchers interested in the Cauchy problem.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book presents a treatise on the theory and modeling of second-order stationary processes, including an exposition on selected application areas that are important in the engineering and applied sciences. The foundational issues regarding stationary processes dealt with in the beginning of the book have a long history, starting in the 1940s with the work of Kolmogorov, Wiener, Cramér and his students, in particular Wold, and have since been refined and complemented by many others. Problems concerning the filtering and modeling of stationary random signals and systems have also been addressed and studied, fostered by the advent of modern digital computers, since the fundamental work of R.E. Kalman in the early 1960s. The book offers a unified and logically consistent view of the subject based on simple ideas from Hilbert space geometry and coordinate-free thinking. In this framework, the concepts of stochastic state space and state space modeling, based on the notion of the conditional independence of past and future flows of the relevant signals, are revealed to be fundamentally unifying ideas. The book, based on over 30 years of original research, represents a valuable contribution that will inform the fields of stochastic modeling, estimation, system identification, and time series analysis for decades to come. It also provides the mathematical tools needed to grasp and analyze the structures of algorithms in stochastic systems theory.
