Advanced Chemistry of Monolayers at Interfaces describes the advanced chemistry of monolayers at interfaces. Focusing on the recent trends of methodology and technology, which are indispensable in monolayer science. They are applied to monolayers of surfactants, amphiphiles, polymers, dendrimers, enzymes, and proteins, which serve many uses. Introduces the methodologies of scanning probe microscopy, surface force instrumentation, surface spectroscopy, surface plasmon optics, reflectometry, and near-field scanning optical microscopy. Modern interface reaction method, lithographic technology and different types of monolayers like adsorption, Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers at air/liquid, liquid/liquid, liquid/solid and air/solid interfaces, are all covered. Introducing novel methodologies and technologies Covering the different types of monolayers Discusses all currently available instrumental techniques for studying all types of monolayer

We are delighted to present the 2022 Edition of our Frontiers in Chemistry “Rising Stars” article collection. This collection showcases the high-quality work of internationally recognized researchers in the early stages of their independent careers. All Rising Star researchers were individually nominated by our Guest Editors and Chief Editors in recognition of their potential to influence the future directions in their respective fields. This year, we have selected Guest Editors who were featured as our Rising Stars in our previous collection together with Editorial Board members. The work presented here highlights the diversity of research performed across the entire breadth of chemical science and presents advances in theory, experiment and methodology with applications to compelling problems.

Studies on the electrochemical processes at the interface between two immiscible liquids began a long time ago: they date back to the end of the last century. Such celebrated scientists as Nemst and Haber, and also young A. N. Frumkin were among those who originated this science. Later A. N. Frumkin went a long way in furthering the studies at the Institute of Electrochemistry. The theory of the appearance of potential in a system of two immiscible electrolytes was developed and experimentally verified before the beginning of the thirties. In later years the studies in this area considerably lagged behind those conducted at metal electrodes which were widely used in different industries. In the past 15 years, however, the situation has radically changed and we have witnessed a drastic increase in the number of publications on the electrochemistry of immiscible electrolytes. We are glad to note that the investiga tions show not only a quantitative but also a qualitative change. The theoretical works on the oil/water interface test not only the thermodynamic aspects of the inter face but also recreate the molecular picture of the process. Along with the now con ventional oilfwater system, electrochemical studies are made on various membranes, including the frnest bilayer lipid membranes, and also on microemulsion systems. A prominent place in the investigation of the oil/water interface is occupied by photoprocesses that come into play at the interface between two ionic conductors.

Colloids and Interface Science, Volume V: Biocolloids, Polymers, Monolayers, Membranes, and General Papers is a collection of manuscripts presented at the International Conference on Colloids and Surfaces, held in San Juan, Puerto Rico on June 21-25, 1976. The conference is sponsored jointly by the Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry of the American Chemical Society and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Division and the 50th Colloid and Surface Science Symposium. This volume is organized into 51 chapters that cover the subjects of biocolloids, polymers, monolayers, membranes, and general papers. Other topics discussed include the thermodynamic aspects of biocolloids; adsorption of polymers; ion-exchange behavior; optical properties of polymers; microvoid films; micellar systems; and liquid crystals. The remaining chapters explore the diffusion and sorption of simple ions, surface properties of copolymers, and adhesion of thermoplastic elastomers.
