Five years have passed since the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, better known as the Rio Earth Summit. The State of the World's Land and Water Resources for Food and Agriculture is FAO's first flagship publication on the global status of land and water resources. Informed livestock sector policy development and priority setting is heavily dependent on a good understanding of livestock production systems.
