DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis thesis reports on novel methods for gain-scheduling and fault tolerant control (FTC). It begins by analyzing the connection between the linear parameter varying (LPV) and Takagi-Sugeno (TS) paradigms. This is then followed by a detailed description of the design of robust and shifting state-feedback controllers for these systems. Furthermore, it presents two approaches to fault-tolerant control: the first is based on a robust polytopic controller design, while the second involves a reconfiguration of the reference model and the addition of virtual actuators into the loop. Inaddition the thesis offers a thorough review of the state-of-the art in gain scheduling and fault-tolerant control, with a special emphasis on LPV and TS systems.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKA quaternion-based attitude control system is developed for the X-33 in the ascent flight phase. A nonlinear control law commands body-axis rotation rates that align the angular velocity vector with an Euler axis defining the axis of rotation that will rotate the body-axis system into a desired-axis system. The magnitudes of the commanded body rates are determined by the magnitude of the rotation error. The commanded body rates form the input to a dynamic inversion-based adaptive/reconfigurable control law. The indirect adaptive control portion of the control law uses online system identification to estimate the current control effectiveness matrix to update a control allocation module. The control allocation nominally operates in a minimum deflection mode; however, if a fault is detected, it can operate in a null-space injection mode that excites and decorrelates the effectors without degrading the vehicle response to enable online system identification. The overall 5 stem is designed to provide fault and damage tolerance for the X-33 on ascent.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book provides recent theoretical developments in and practical applications of fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control for complex dynamical systems, including uncertain systems, linear and nonlinear systems. Combining adaptive control technique with other control methodologies, it investigates the problems of fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control for uncertain dynamic systems with or without time delay. As such, the book provides readers a solid understanding of fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control based on adaptive control technology. Given its depth and breadth, it is well suited for undergraduate and graduate courses on linear system theory, nonlinear system theory, fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control techniques. Further, it can be used as a reference source for academic research on fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control, and for postgraduates in the field of control theory and engineering.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKOverview of recent advances in the analysis and design of health management systems for cooperating unmanned aerial vehicles. Cooperative health management (CHM) systems seek to provide adaptation to the presence of faults by capitalizing on the availability of interconnected computing, sensing and actuation resources. Complements the proposed CHM concepts by means of case studies and application examples. and presents fundamental principles and results encompassing optimization, systems theory, information theory, dynamics, modeling and simulation.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThis book covers a wide spectrum of systems such as linear and nonlinear multivariable systems as well as control problems such as disturbance, uncertainty and time-delays. The purpose of this book is to provide researchers and practitioners a manual for the design and application of advanced discrete-time controllers. The book presents six different control approaches depending on the type of system and control problem. The first and second approaches are based on Sliding Mode control (SMC) theory and are intended for linear systems with exogenous disturbances. The third and fourth approaches are based on adaptive control theory and are aimed at linear/nonlinear systems with periodically varying parametric uncertainty or systems with input delay. The fifth approach is based on Iterative learning control (ILC) theory and is aimed at uncertain linear/nonlinear systems with repeatable tasks and the final approach is based on fuzzy logic control (FLC) and is intended for highly uncertain systems with heuristic control knowledge. Detailed numerical examples are provided in each chapter to illustrate the design procedure for each control method. A number of practical control applications are also presented to show the problem solving process and effectiveness with the advanced discrete-time control approaches introduced in this book.
